Bright sunlight emerged through the windows, hurting my eyes. My deep slumber came to an end. I squinted at the windows and found the curtains wide open. No one else would've done that except Luke. He would term it as caring, but it was worse than slavery.
I sat up on the bed annoyed, running a hand through my hair. Again, I found tubes on my hand. 'How long did I sleep now?' I wondered.
To my astonishment, I found a head with blonde hair lying near my foot. It was Luke. He had been there throughout the night. I tried to wake him. I just touched his head, but then he sat up straight with a jerk. Looking at me, he gave a sigh of relief.
"Good morning Debs" said Luke
"Have you been here throughout the night?"
"Not one, but two nights I've been here but you didn't wake up. I was scared that you would..you would.." stammered Luke.
"Never wake up?" I completed, ripping the tube deliberately from my arm. His eyes started swelling with tears.
"I am really sorry Debbie. Instead of giving the pills, I must've sat with you patiently and cleared all your doubts. I've been such a jerk. But you know, these three years have been really hard on me without you. Now, you woke up after these much years, I didn't want to lose you again." said Luke, blinking away his tears.
My mind was blank. I didn't know how to reply him. Suddenly something showed up in my brain.
"Luke may I ask you something?" I said
"Anything" said Luke
"Who is Della?"
His face changed. He looked very distressed.
"Did I ask something bad?" I said
"No. Della was the most beautiful girl on the entire planet. I was fortunate to have her as my girlfriend." said Luke
"She was along with me in the accident, right?"
"Yeah, but I don't remember telling you anything about a accident. Do you remember everything?" said Luke.
"Very few things. That too I don't get the pictorial memory of it. I wish I could remember everything."
"I wish you don't" said Luke half soliloquising
"What did you say?" I snapped
"I would be glad to help you" said Luke
"Thanks" I said
Luke wiped away his tears and returned back to his bossy mode.
"Your room stinks. Go wash yourself and come to have breakfast" said Luke and strode away towards the door.
"Luke" I called
"What?" said Luke
"Thanks for not giving up on me"
"And thanks for waking up" said Luke.

That was the first time I took a wash by myself after three years. The long shower made me hungry, so I went to the dining room expecting something mammoth for breakfast.
