Sasha's pov
It was pure chaos, pictures taken from every angle, people parading their dresses and costumes, the paparazzi tried to push the borders to get near our guests but my security did really well, Sun, Hawk and North all disappeared in the crowd, but I knew they were not far away, always keeping an eye on me.Some of the guests wanted to take pictures with me so I could't deny them, guess who's going to be on the first pages tomorrow.
That bothered me but I guess if I'd become a public person, I will be harder to kill.
And so I took all the interviews and pictures.
It's been 50 minutes of all this media craze. McCoy and Jake stepped on the carpet. I smiled and so put a side plan in action.
"Welcome friends! I wish you the best of all nights, but first shall we take a picture together?"
I signaled the media and they came gladly, McCoy was stunned. There were at least 100 cameras taking pictures of me and my two favorite cops.
Jack was grinning, he enjoyed this.
We were the last ones who entered the ballroom.
"Thank you for the invitation Miss Sasha." McCoy was looking at me suspicious.
"It is my pleasure, detective. It is a honor to have you here. Please enjoy!" I motioned them to the gifts booth.
Jack stood a bit behind and whispered at my ear "You look lovely this evening, boss." He stole a swift kiss of my cheek and went to the booth also.
This guy is driving me crazy, I had goosebumps on my hands. Really Sasha? What are you? 10?
I shook my head and started pacing the room, everyone was seated at the table enjoying the apperitives and Champagne.
I saw Sun talking to an oil magnate, Hawk discussing something really serious with a fashion designer and North at the bar having a drink with the mayor. The guys always busy, but each time they looked for me at least once.
My team signaled that it's time for my speech.
I got on the stage, the lights dimmed and the band stopped.
"Dear guests, I am happy to host this year's ball. It is a honor to have you all in my "home". I hope everything is of your liking and if not we will make it that way. My team and me worked hard to make thins perfect for you and I hope it will be a night to be remembered. Let the music play and the drinks flow. I wish you a lovely night."
I bowled and got down from the stage. Everyone started clapping, and cheering. The music started to play again.
I took a glass of champagne and a bite of caviar.
Marius was far back near the entrance discussing something with one of the bodyguards, he looked a bit disturbed.
"What happened?" I asked approaching.
"There was an accident in the kitchen miss." His eyebrows furrowed.
"What accident?"
"Someone had a diabetic shock." He dismissed the bodyguard. "We had to take him away, it's good that we had an insulin syringe and a doctor with us."
"Indeed it was good to take al those precautions Marius. Thank you."
I set my hand on his shoulder and squeezed a bit. "Indeed miss." He smiled "Your speech was nice. Smiling suits you, it should stay more on your face."
He was looking for the guys, "I see that they are taking the plan serious."
A grin appeared on my face "Indeed, I wonder what is North talking to the mayor. They are at it for some time now."
"I hope something beneficial." He looked at me and smiled.
"Good job Marius. I want to discuss something with you tomorrow. I will be taking a day off. Come by the apartment at 12."
"Certainly miss." He nodded and I went to see what my favorite cops were doing.
"Having fun?" They were having drinks at the bar.
"We are indeed, miss Sasha. I was just telling detective McCoy how nice everything looks. We din't have this kind of parties at home."
"Oh, and you are from?" I smiled, of course I knew from where, I even knew his blood type and ex medical problems. Jack was an open book for me.
"Texas miss." He gave me a big wide grin.
"How about you miss?" Detective McCoy asked.
There we go, interrogations without a badge.
"England. But I came to the states when I was little." Such a lie, but they had no way proving this.
"That's a long way from home, miss." McCoy added taking a gulp from his whiskey.
"Indeed, how about we skip to the chase detective? I know you have your eyes on me. But I assure you I am just am entrepreneur. Nothing to worry about. As you can see, my firm is legal."
"Yes, we can see that." McCoy finished his drink and signaled for another one, at this rate he will get drunk before the last course of food.
"I hope everything is of your liking, please sit, the first course will be served." I could see Jack's eyes roaming over my body.
Smiling I got away.Jesus he has to stop. A plate came by and grabbed some salmon and mozzarella brousquette and another glass of Champagne.
As any other host I had to entertain my guests so I kept walking from table to table, chatting to each of them about politics, fashion, health, money, family, children, you name it. Not one subject was left behind.
At some point I was discussing with the minister of environment about the new legislation when North excused himself.
"Miss, can I have this dance?" He smiled that Colgate smile of his.
The minister nodded and we walked to the dancing floor.
He took me by the waist and hand and started to slow dance.
"You have been busy I see." He chuckled."What can I say. A girl has dreams." He gently squeezed my hand.
"It's been a long time Em." His face softened.
North was the only one who knew my past life and I his.
His pitch black eyes were caressing. North was my first boy, we had a secret relationship when we were younger, until we almost got discovered during training.
I remember that day as if it was yesterday, me being in the middle of 8 guys with just a small knife. Sensei studying my every move.
I wasn't ready by then, they were to many. One of them kicked my knife away. I managed to get 4 of them down, first blood how you say it. But the rule was only for them.
I had to fight until the end. They gave me a beating, I had to stay in the infirmary for two months. North almost lost control and attached them when he saw me on the floor bleeding and not moving.
Hawk and Sun kept him in place, they knew something was up by his reaction. After that we had to split up.
But we still remained close."You are thinking about that day again aren't you?" He twirled me around.
I sighed "Yes."
"It's been so long Em. We've been through a lot. Family comes first."
I looked him in the eyes, he was honest but still sad.
"I talked to Sun about your bounty. You really killed the Russian huh?" He chuckled.
"He was messy, I had to." We were slowly dancing. Other people joined but they gave us privacy.
"The Chinese leader is ready for war." He squeezed my hips.
"I know, I'm ready also. Come by the apartment tomorrow with the other bubbleheads we'll talk strategy."
"Will do Em." He smiled bowed down and kissed my hand.
The melody changed and I left to see what my other guys were doing.
