The Journey

It was 2 hours before dawn. The soldiers were breaking camp around me. We only had about 50 soldiers left. Half of them had not made the battle. The journey back to the Green kingdom was going to be a hard one. With only 50 soldiers left, a bandit gang could rob us or even worst: a Norripod. I thought about the fight last night and the Norripods that had helped us win the fight. Maybe the Norripods were here to help us, not to attack.  A few minutes later, we finished breaking camp. We started to climb down the rocky cliffs of Mt.Orb.

Once we reached the base of the mountain, we were all sweaty and sticky. I took one last glance at the huge wall over the horizon and the big flag over it. We then continued to walk across the rolling gentle hills in the mainland of Gala.

"Hey," said Richard "I know what the wall, they call it the Zen wall. I read that late at night in my tent last night. They say that there is a huge gathering of monsters in on the other side. So, the all the kings came together and decided to build the giant wall. They called it the Zen wall."

The news didn't surprise me. A few days ago, my sister Chole went missing just a few nights before my dad died. I was hoping that the Zen wall and whatever was on the other side would help me find the answers to her disappearance.

"They call it the chaos lands," continued Richard " the other side of the Zen wall. Many people have tried exploring it, but none came back alive"

Suddenly, a feeling of dread settled over me. Something wasn't right. I glanced up the hill and saw something dark, just for a second. Nos must have saw it too, because he frowned uneasily at it. Just then, hundreds of soldiers, possessed by the dark force came charging down the hill at us. Many carried swords and wore armour, but a few were very well protected and had gleaming iron weapons.

"Close ranks!" Nos shouted over all the noise.

Our soldiers struggled together into a thick shield wall, but many of the possessed soldiers just tore through the soldiers like it was nothing. They all ran towards something in the center of the shield wall. They were going towards something at the center. The cart with the only vial of dark force left. They wanted to destroy it.

"Protect the cart!" I shouted at the soldiers.

One of the possessed soldiers lept over the shield wall and ran towards the cart. I intercepted him and stabbed him in the arm. His sword clattered out of his hand and onto the ground. Still, he swiped at me with his bare hand, leaving a trail of blood on my face. I cut him down and turned to find that the shield wall had broke.

Separate of our soldiers scattered around the battlefield, fighting their own battled. Nos and the other archers desperately shot wave after wave of arrows into the crowd, but the arrows seemed to annoy the enemy soldiers rather that kill them.

"Fire!!" Nos shouted, "We need to get fire!"

I scanned the surrounding area for anything that could cause fire, but all I found was grass and dirt. Nothing to start a fire. I stabbed a enemy soldiers through the chest just as he grabbed the jar. It clattered out of his hand. I grabbed it before it could shatter on the hard ground.

Another possessed soldier ran towards, me, trying to get the jar in my hand. I raised my sword just as he lept forwards, with his sword raised above his head. The 2 swords clashed, and in a loud crack, both of our swords broke. I bashed him with my shield in the head as hard as I could. He crumpled to the ground.

Another soldier dove for the jar. I easily sidestepped him and stuck out my foot. He tripped against it and crashed onto the ground, where Nos's arrows cut him down before he could get back up. I suddenly realized how few of our troops remained. We were stuck in a tight circle with about 20 soldiers and 5 archers left. The enemy soldiers pointed their swords at us, and I knew we were doomed.
