Ground Lake

It was a real chilly mourning when we departed the Green Kingdom. Fog clung to the air and waves sloshed along the beach that we were walking by. We needed all the help we could get, so King Pelias let us bring around 600 troops and some of the best equipment in the Kingdom.

While Hal and Nos started talking up in the front, I hung out with Richard in the back. My leg had finally healed, but it hurt sometimes when I put too much weight on it.

"How are you holding up?" Richard said

"Pretty good," I replied, "Hey, don't you think Alexia's acting a little strange recently?"

I glanced over at Alexia, who was walking on her own near the ocean. Despite her long staff and strange robes, she seemed to be keeping up with the rest of us just fine.

"What do you mean?" Asked Richard

"Well, King Pelias said that there was a spy within us that told Ivor that we were attacking them," I said, "Don't you think that it might be Alexia. I mean she just showed up right when we were ambushed"

"True," Replied Richard, "but we need to give her a chance. I practiced with her a little bit when you guys were gone attacking the Red Kingdom. She's a really warrior."

"If the fleets as large as King Pelias's scouts reported," Richard continued, "Then we're going to need her."

I nodded. One of King Pelias's scouts came today, reporting of the fleet. Apparently, there were over 100 warships, each one with 5 smaller ones guarding their heavy cannons. I'm guessing that there are over 2000 soldiers in that army.

"Don't worry," I said, "Now that I have Loth, I can counter Ivor's dark magic. At least we'll stand a chance."

"True," Richard replied, nodding, "Loth will really be useful in the fight to come. Have you mastered its full abilities?"

"Not yet," I admitted, "I'll get it soon."

Richard didn't reply, so we just walked in awkward silence. Finally, after another hour or so of walking, we reached Ground Lake.

There was a tiny river leading the lake to the ocean, which was good, because the big warships wouldn't be able to fit inside the river. There were tiny forts clustered around the shore, here and there that my father's army had built.

Apparently, according to the old books and my father's stories, a huge army of evil spirits came to attack Gala through Ground Lake. My father had lead a huge army and managed to repel the attack after 3 days of hard fighting. Many soldiers have died here, but luckily, they build a fort and defenses here, in case those evil spirits came back... or Red Kingdom soldiers.

Luckily for us, there were still guards, who just stayed around the area, though there wasn't much purpose in that. A tiny garrison stood at the center of the beach. A small cluster of soldiers came out to greet us.

"Hello, fellow Green Kingdom soldiers," The soldier at the lead said, "What are you guys doing here?"

Nos pushed his way thorough our soldiers and explained the situation to the soldier, who introduced himself as Pethor. There were about 100 additional soldiers in the garrison and some more that lived around the area. There was an old stone bridge going over the river, but it looked so old that it would collapse any second now.

There was also a long line of rusty cannons along the shore. That would surely help, but the cannons looked in really bad shape. The messenger said that the Red Kingdom fleet would arrive early next mourning, so we would have some time to prepare.
