Chapter 7

"I told you that you aren't going." Rachel said for the fifth time.

I had all the important stuff packed for my "fun" trip with Jai and his family. I had to spend a huge amount of time convincing Beverly to come with. I thought she'd agree at first but apparently she was the nervous type of person so it took me a long time to convince her. But in the end, she finally agreed. I was waiting in my room for Jai to ring the doorbell or call so that I could get out of this house. He was taking a long ass time. Rachel came to my room a billion times telling me that I wasn't allowed to go. When she saw me packing, she thought I was planning on running away. I wasn't that surprised to know that she thought that way. But then I tried explaining how I'm only going on a small visit to the city with Jai's family and Beverly, and she went crazy.

"How many times do I have to tell you that you aren't my mother and I can go wherever the fuck I want to go?" She was pissing me off. She didn't give a shit about me and it was annoying how she was pretending to care.

"Ava I don't care if I'm not your mother. Sadly, you're my responsibility and I have to watch over you. How do I know you aren't just going to sell some drugs? Or how do I know that you're even going to the city?"

I understand that this crazy bitch didn't trust me, but drug dealing? Was she insane? "And how do I know you don't sell drugs, Rachel?"

She almost slapped me, but did her best to stop herself. Instead, she left my room and went to complain to my dad about how it isn't right for me to leave the house. My dad already agreed that its fine if I go, as long as I stayed in contact with him. For some reason he trusted Jai. But Rachel being the bitch she is, kept going to my dad to convince him not to let me go.

The doorbell rang. I quickly grabbed my coat, my phone, and my small suitcase and went downstairs.

"Where are you going?" I turned to see Adam standing near me, staring at me.

"I'm just going to go outside for a little bit."

"Can I come too?" Adam began wearing his shoes that were near the door.

"No, Adam. Its too cold outside. You should stay inside. I can bring you something if you want it. Do you want anything?" I sat down so that my face was leveled to his face.

"I want chocolate." He smiled.

Of course. Being the little kid he was, I should've known. "Okay Adam. I have to go now. Bye."

I opened the door to see Jai standing waiting for me. I was about to get out of the house, but Adam ran and hugged me really hard. It made my heart hurt. I never had someone show this much care for me. I hugged him back and kissed his cheek. I then closed the door and walked to Jai's car. I saw four other guys. I recognized one of them as the guy that gave me the coffee the day I went over to their house. What was his name.. Beau? I also so Beverly looking happier than ever. They must've picked her up on the way here. The other guy looked just like Jai. He looked like his twin and that actually scared me.

"You have a twin?!" I screamed.

"Why are you so shocked? Sadly its true." He grabbed my suitcase and put it in the trunk of the car.

His twin looked similar to him. But he didn't have an eyebrow piercing. He had a lip piercing and his hair was a lot different than Jai's.

"I'm Luke." Jai's twin came up and gave me an awkward hug, which I didn't return because I felt uncomfortable.

"I'm Ava."

"You already know who I am." Beau came and messed with my hair. Thank God he wasn't as awkward as Luke.

"And I'm Daniel. But you can call me Skip." He looked really athletic and had blonde hair. He probably thought he was Miley Cyrus.

This was the most awkward thing that has probably ever happened to me. I wasn't used to meeting new people so I felt really weird.

"And I'm James." The other guy said. He had brown eyes and dark hair. He was the tallest out of all of them.

"Okay can you guys just shut up and help me figure out how we're all supposed to fit in one car?" Jai yawned. He seemed pretty bored.

"Jai we probably shouldn't all go in one car, you cunt. You wanna get caught by the police?" Luke argued.

"I'm not a cunt, you're a cunt. You're the king of cunts. You're the-"

I interrupted him before he made my brain explode. "How about we go with Luke's idea and use two cars?"

"Okay Einstein, if you noticed, I only have one fucking car with me." Jai pointed towards his car.

"I can borrow my dads." This wasn't something I would normally say, but I was not going to sit in one car with all these people. Hell no.

"Fine, I'm gonna go inside and ask for the keys. You guys wait here." Jai said.

How exactly was he expecting to get the keys to my dads car? My dad wouldn't say yes to me, why would he say yes to Jai? I was so busy in my thoughts that I didn't realize Jai was standing right next to me with the car keys.

"How the fuck?" I was so confused.

"Everyone falls for my charm." He came closer to me and whispered softly in my ear. "You will too."

I pushed him away from me. He was making me feel nervous, and I'm never nervous.

"Okay lets do this." James grabbed the car keys from Jai. "Jai, Beau, and Ava all go in one car. Luke, Daniel, Beverly, and I will go in the other car. Does that sound good?"

Everyone agreed with that. Daniel, Beverly, Luke, and James went and sat in the other car.

"Jai you shouldn't drive. Give me the car keys." Beau argued with Jai.

"Nothing will happen. Its fine. I can drive."

"Jai just fucking listen for once." Beau snatched the car keys away from Jai and sat in the drivers seat.

I had no idea what just happened, but chose to stay silent. Jai sat in the passenger seat and I sat in the back. I put in my earbuds and began listening to random music. I kept looking at Jai and he didn't look okay. Something was bothering him, and I had absolutely no idea what it was. He was probably just tired. I didn't think too much about it and before I knew it, I was asleep.

"How the fuck does someone not wake up after you throw ice water on them?" I heard someone's voice.

"I'll just carry her. You all go and get the keys for all the rooms in the hotel." I heard another voice. And then I felt extremely cold water being thrown on my face. I quickly woke up and screamed.

"Its just water." I saw Jai standing in front of me with the car door open.

"Are we here?" I asked. I looked around and saw that we were parked near the hotel.

"We already got the suitcases in. So don't worry about that. Come on, lets go." He pulled me out of the car and we began walking to the hotel room.

It was night outside. The stars were shining in the sky and it made me feel depressed. Normally when people see stars, they feel happy, but that was the opposite for me.

"Are you hungry?" Jai asked while opening the hotel's door for me.

"No not really. I ate before we left."

We saw everyone else standing with the hotel keys, waiting for us.

"Luke and Beau will share a room. Beverly and Ava will share a room. James and I will share a room, and Jai will have his room to himself." Daniel said.

"Thats perfect." Jai grabbed the keys to his room and left.

Our rooms were all next to each other and it made things a lot more easier. Daniel and James went into their room too. I saw Luke smiling at Beverly, and she was returning the smile. I wonder what happened in the car.

I grabbed my suitcase and jumped onto the bed. Even though I just slept, I felt extremely tired.

"I'm so tired." Beverly said while sitting next to me on the bed.

"So Beverly. How's Luke?" I smirked.

She began to blush and her face was as red as a tomato. It was a funny thing to see. I was actually enjoying her embarrassment.

"Wha..What do you mean?" She looked nervous.

"I know you like Luke."

"No I dont. Its late. Go to sleep. Goodnight Ava." She turned off the lights and drifted off to a deep sleep.

I laughed lightly and closed my eyes. It was nice to be away from everything for a short while. I tried not to think about my memories and fell asleep easily.

"Nothing hurts you, Ava. Nothing does. I can slap you continuously and you still won't get hurt." She began laughing and slapped me again.

This time I stayed quiet. She only hit me when she knew I was getting hurt. She wanted me to feel the pain.

"I hate you." I spat.

She banged my head on the hard wall. Resist Ava, resist. I kept telling myself that.

"You're the reason why this family broke apart."

The anger boiled inside of me. "WHAT DID I DO? WHY DO YOU HIT ME ALL THE TIME? WHAT THE FUCK DID I DO TO YOU?"

I shouldn't have said that. She took her alcohol bottle and threw it on my head. It immediately broke into billions of pieces.

My heart felt shattered; broken. I tried running out of the house, but she quickly took me to my room and locked me in.

I banged on the door again and again. I banged on the door as hard as I could, until my fists began to bleed. I sat down on the cold ground and began to scream and cry.

"AVA WAKE UP!" Beverly shook me uncontrollably.

I quickly sat on my bed and realized I had tears coming out of my eyes. I had a nightmare. Actually, it wasn't even a nightmare, it was a flashback. My dreams were coming back. They wouldn't stop.

"Ava..oh my god." She hugged me and wiped my tears away.

"Beverly I'm fine. Please, go back to sleep."

"You were crying! I didn't know what to do! I was gonna go call someone for help. You wouldn't wake up!" She began to tear up. This made me even more uncomfortable.

I gave her a fake smile. "I'm fine. I just need a walk outside. I'll be back in a bit. You go back to sleep."

I could tell she didn't want to sleep and wanted to find out what happened to me, but I grabbed my sweater and walked out the room.

The hotel's lobby was empty and dark. I walked out of the hotel to get some fresh air. I couldn't stay inside. I walked along the sidewalk and saw Jai sitting on the bench. What the fuck was he doing at this time of night?

I walked towards him. "Jai are you okay?" I tapped him on his shoulder.

He looked at me with confusion written in his eyes then quickly looked away. Well, he clearly wasn't feeling good. That makes two of us. I sat down next to him on the bench.

"Shouldn't you be asleep?" He asked, still looking away.

"I um.. Had a nightmare."

This made him turn and look in my direction. "What kind of nightmare? Hey, are you crying?"

"No i'm not. And nothing, just a random nightmare. But whatever. Whats up with you?"

"Just thinking about some things. Mostly about life."

"What about life?"

"That my dear, is a secret." He flicked my forehead and I instantly remembered the first time we met and how he did that then too.

"Ava, come with me." Jai interwined his fingers into mine and I felt explosions. I tried my best to ignore that though. I followed him back into the hotel and he led the way to his room.

"Jai what are you-"

He put his finger over my lips. "Stay quiet." He took me inside his room and closed the door.

I was confused. I had no idea what was happening.

He laid in the bed and told me to lay with him.

"Jai I am not laying down next to you." I argued.

He grabbed my arm and gently laid me next to him. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. It felt so good. It felt so..different.

"We both had a bad day. So just close your eyes and stop overthinking shit, and go to sleep."

I stared into his eyes and saw that he was completely serious. Right now, he needed me and I needed him. So I stopped fighting him and lay my head on his chest. His heart was beating fast and I was sure that mine was too. His arm was still wrapped around me and for the first time ever, I felt protected.

I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

And this time I had no nightmares.
