Chapter 15

Rachel enjoyed making me mad and she definitely enjoyed making everything a big deal. The minute I got home, she snatched the car keys away from me and began screaming at me without allowing me to give a logical explanation. God, she could get so damn annoying. 

"I can't even believe you would do something like that! It's just insane how-"

I cut her off because I was beginning to get a headache. "Jai was in the hospital."

Finally, she stopped screaming. "What?! Why?!"

Wow, I didn't know she liked him too. I always knew my dad liked him, but I didn't know that she did too. "Doesn't matter. Anyways, you can ground me after he gets out of the hospital because no matter what you say, I'm still going to go visit him tomorrow morning." 

There were two reasons that I decided to come home in the first place. The first was that I was feeling extremely exhausted and I couldn't handle sitting in that hospital anymore. The second reason was because of what Jai said. He did not need to tell me that he "loves" me. I didn't want him to love me. I was beginning to get really confused because of all of my feelings. I knew that I was starting to like him and no matter how hard I tried to push him away, he came back. I couldn't like him. People like him and people like me don't deserve to be together. 

She sighed. "Just be careful when you use my car. I usually don't let anyone use my car, but this is an emergency and I'll allow you." She handed me the car keys. "Don't let anything happen to my car." She took her cup of coffee and went upstairs. 

I sat on the chair in the kitchen. I began to think about my mom. My relationship with my mom was horrible, but I still cared a lot about her. I've grown up to be a lot more independent than I was before, but I still need my mom. I still need to make sure she's okay. But the problem was that I couldn't just go and visit her. That would be way too dangerous and I wasn't going to take this risk. I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie and walked up to my room. 

My room was really terrifying during the night time. It was completely dark except for the moonlight that was visible from my window. For the first time in a long time, I actually felt scared being in my room. I closed the curtains and turned on the side light. My phone vibrated and I was worried that Ricky texted me again. I slowly unlocked my phone.

"So Rachel actually allowed you to come here?" Luke asked while we were sitting next to Jai, who was deep asleep.

I nodded. "Once I told her he was hospitalized, she didn't even bother to stop me or ask me any questions besides what happened to him."

"That's nice."

I diverted my attention to the sky outside. It seemed like it was going to rain in a little bit. I liked rain a lot. The only problem was that I didn't want to drive outside in her car while it was raining, it was way too dangerous. 

"I was planning on asking Beverly if she wanted to be my girlfriend today." Luke smiled. "We actually have a date tonight so I have to leave in a couple of minutes."

I didn't look at him. I was beginning to feel furious because while Jai was in the hospital with a atrocious cut, his brother was out going on dates. Don't get me wrong, Luke was a nice person but he should be staying at the hospital instead of partying and thinking about Beverly. "So let me get this straight." I turned to face him. "You want me to babysit your brother while you go on a date with Beverly?"
