[JAI'S POV]
She was gone. It was around 2am when I received the phonecall from Rachel saying that Ava was no where to be found. I quickly ran out of my house, not giving a shit about anything at the moment and drove all the way to her house. Once I got there, Rachel was crying while Ava's dad was making phonecalls regarding Ava's disappearance.
"She has to be somewhere! Didn't she give you any clues or hints as to where she went?" I asked. It wasn't surprising that she ran away to some place, but it also didn't make any sense because she seemed to be happy and cheerful these days. What could've happened now?
Ava's dad came back into the kitchen and took a deep breath. He looked a billion times older right not because of how tired he was. But that didn't concern me at all. What concerned me was the fact that my Ava was somewhere lost in this unknown world. And if I didn't find her, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. "I contacted the police and they said that nothing can legally happen because she is eighteen and so she apparently has every right to leave." He sighed. "They did, however, say that they'd go search around and see if they can find her. But if they can't, nothing can be done."
What the fuck? Was that even allowed? "They won't help look for her?!" I couldn't control my anger. "The can't do that! What if she's in a dangerous situation right now?"
Rachel began crying again. "This wasn't supposed to happen. She took my car and left, and I didn't even know. If I had known, I would've been able to stop her." She sobbed.
Where could she have gone? The only dangerous person that was after her was Ricky and once the realization hit me I collapsed on the chair. She must've done something extremely stupid and he must be near her right now. "No.." I whispered, my hands shaking uncontrollably. "Please no." I hit my fist on the table, ignoring the trembling pain that shot throughout my body. I had promised her that I'd keep her away from him, that I'd keep her safe. I fucking broke that promise.
"Jai, what's wrong?" Her dad asked me. Of course, he didn't know. I knew Ava would be angry if I ended up telling him everything that happened, but they needed to know, especially since now she was in major danger.
"I'm gonna tell you guys something. But you're not gonna like it, and I don't know how you'll react to it." I said, and they stared at me, afraid to hear what I was gonna say. "There's this guy named Ricky. He was in some kind of relationship with Ava's mom. He tried raping.." I had to stop myself from letting my anger take control of me, "He tried raping Ava. After her mom ended up in jail, he began going after Ava and apparently he threatened to kill her if she didn't end up paying a certain amount of money. That's all I know, but I feel like he's with her right now and something in me tells me that she's in a lot of danger." If he even laid a finger on her, he'd be a dead man.
Rachel got up from her seat and left the kitchen. I could hear her crying harder than she already was. Ava's dad sat in shock. He didn't say anything and didn't move a muscle.
"I need to find out where she is." I told him. "The shitty police is clearly not gonna do anything, but I will. I won't let him hurt her. I'm gonna find out where she is. And I'll make sure to bring her back." I just prayed that she wasn't already dead. I got up from my chair. "I'm gonna go upstairs and see if I can find anything in her room."
He didn't say anything and I knew he was still trying to process everything I had just told him. Once I got into her room, I noticed that everything was still the same as it usually was. That means that she didn't choose to run away or anything. I looked under her pillow and under her bed, but didn't find anything. I looked around her room, but there was literally nothing that could tell me where she was. I couldn't go to the police saying that Ava was in danger unless I had some proof. And knowing her, she wouldn't have gone unless something triggered her to go.
