[JAI'S POV]
I woke up and realized that Ava wasn't next to me anymore. I knew exactly what would happen now. I would go downstairs and once she saw my face, she would run away because she would be reminded of everything that happened last night. I sighed and walked to the kitchen for some breakfast. Beau was making pancakes and coffee.
"Have you seen Ava?" I asked him while taking my cup of coffee.
Beau flipped the pancakes over. "You do know that Beverly and Ava needed to be home last night. Ava's dad called me today morning and told me to take her back home. Apparently her stepmom had a problem with her staying over."
I groaned. "What the hell is her problem? Why doesn't she let Ava have some freedom?"
Beau shrugged. "I don't know. Have you visited the hospital yet?"
My blood went cold. Frozen; just like ice. "Last night." I whispered.
"Jai, listen." He sat down on the dining table and then stared at me with pity. "If you ever want to talk-"
I cut him off before he could finish. "I'm fine. It's all good. Shit happens." I quickly finished my food and walked out of the house. I didn't want to discuss all of that stuff with anyone. That stuff led me into a deep kind of sadness and there was no way out of that sadness.

[AVA'S POV]
"I told you. I fucking told you ten times, I can do whatever the hell I want and you can't ever stop me because you aren't my mom!" I screamed at Rachel.
Beau dropped me off an hour ago after my dad called demanding for me to come home as soon as possible. It's just been an hour and Rachel was already lecturing me and screaming at me.
"I don't care if I am not your mother! As long as you stay in my house, you have to follow these rules. You can't just go to his house and stay there overnight without telling me!" She took a deep breath. "If someone ends up killing or hurting you, I don't want to be blamed."
I smirked while trying to hide the pain inside of me. "Highly doubt Jai would try murdering me. If anyone wanted to murder me, you'd be the first."
"Shut up!" She snapped. "Just.. just shut up. I try to protect you and I try so damn hard to make you happy, but you just keep pushing me away."
"Don't try to make me happy. Don't you dare even try. You don't need to protect me. Just keep your distance from me."
"Why do you keep pushing people away?!"
"Because I can!" I yelled.
"No, Ava. This isn't right."
"Don't tell me what's right and what's wrong." I felt tears in my eyes so I ran outside of the house. One could block out their feelings for only a certain amount of time before they crack. I kept walking, not caring at all where I was going. I just needed to get away from the house. Away from Rachel. Away from my dad. Away from everything.
"I guess running away from your problems is a hobby of yours." I heard someone's voice coming from behind me. "Interesting hobby."
I turned around and saw Jai walking towards me. As much as I wanted to deny it, his presence brought a positive aura. He was wearing his Nirvana shirt along with some sweatpants. He actually looked good. His eyebrow piercing was creating a shine because of the sun's reflection. "Take me somewhere." I said once he was standing only a few centimeters away from me. "Take me away from here. Somewhere far."
