[JAI'S POV]
It's been three days since I've been released from the hospital. On the third day, I finally gained enough courage to walk downstairs to the kitchen. These past days, I did everything I could to avoid everyone. I knew they all had a great deal of questions that they wanted to ask me. Questions that I wasn't ready to answer until now.
As I approached the kitchen, I saw Beau and Daniel sitting in the living room. They got up immediately once they saw that I finally left my room. I walked into the kitchen and poured myself a bowl of cereal. The doctors stopped me from eating all the delicious food so I had to settle for this. Beau had a questioning look on his face. I sighed but continued to eat.
"We need to talk." Beau took a seat right across from me. "I need to know exactly what happened."
I lied. I wasn't ready to answer any of their questions. They never knew when to give me a break. It hasn't even been a week since I got back from the hospital and they're already attacking me with all these ridiculous questions.
"Jai, this isn't a joke. What happened that night ended up putting you in the hospital. If you keep ignoring me, I swear I'm gonna go and find out myself." He snatched my spoon away from me. "Start talking."
I leaned my head back on the chair and put my legs on the table. This was going to be a long story so I might as well get comfortable. "Didn't she tell you what happened?" I knew Ava must have told them some part of the story.
"She did. But I wanna hear your side of the story."
I grumbled. "Her side of the story is the same as my side of the story."
He slammed his fist on the table in anger. This was the first time I ever saw him this furious. His eyes turned a shade darker and his entire expression was nothing but serious. "I don't know what's going on between the two of you and I honestly don't fucking care, but if something happens to you, it's my responsibility. I have to take care of all of you. If you get yourself in danger and almost get killed, I'm not going to be smiling about it. You got yourself involved in a situation that wasn't your problem in the first place. You put your precious life in danger all for a girl that wouldn't do the same for you."
Little did he know how wrong he actually was. She would definitely do the same thing for me. I wanted to tell him that. I really did. But I decided to keep my mouth shut and let him continue.
"Now we have a stranger after us. He wouldn't be after us if you didn't get yourself involved in this. I found out some information about him and he's not someone one would wanna mess with."
Luke walked into the kitchen and noticed the tense atmosphere. He messed around with his hair and leaned against the counter. "You made a mistake." Luke said.
"A big one." Daniel finally spoke.
Something in their tone triggered my anger. I finally snapped. "Don't you dare tell me I made a mistake!" I smashed the bowl on the floor and it shattered into millions of little pieces. "All I did was save her from getting killed! What the fuck would you do if you saw someone getting killed? Would you just stand there and watch?!"
Daniel put his hand on my shoulder. "Jai, calm down."
I slapped his hand away. "Do you think if I actually left her I would be able to live with myself knowing that I was the reason Ava got killed? You think I should've just walked away and left her there to die?!" I inhaled and exhaled. "Sure, I almost got myself killed. But at least it was from saving an innocent girl's life!"
Beau rubbed his head indicating that I was giving him a headache. I honestly wasn't concerned. Luke stepped away from the counter and sat next to me. "She's ruining your life."
