[AVAS POV]
There comes a time in someone's life when they are completely at loss of words. No matter how hard they try, nothing comes out of their mouth. That's exactly how I felt right at that moment. There were about fifty different emotions going through my entire body and I was a complete mess. The entire time he was telling me this story, my heart clenched and the tears continuously blurred my vision. Never had I seen someone so broken. But the thing that completely ruined me, the thing that made my heart stop beating, and the thing that made my body shake violently was the fact that his dad was responsible for this entire situation. I wanted to know more about what happened or why it happened, but every single thought left my mind when I looked at Jai.
His face was full of tears. His hair was a complete mess. His eyes were red from all the crying. His lips were dry and chapped. No one deserves this kind of pain. I've been through some really hideous things, but at this moment I pushed all of that to the back of my mind and focused on the broken guy sitting right next to me. He's been there for me during my darkest moments and there was no way I was going to leave him alone while he was going through a dark time himself.
"We don't have to talk about it." I whispered. I was still holding his hand.
He nodded. "I'm so fucking stupid." He wiped his eyes with his other hand. "I wasn't supposed to cry like this. I'm sorry. I look so weak."
I knew what he meant. Every single time I cried, I always believed I was weak. I put my head on his shoulder and held his hand tighter. "If it makes you feel any better, I think you're extremely strong."
He smiled slightly. I didn't want him to stop smiling so I continued being ridiculous. "I mean, mentally, you're really strong. But physically, holy shit Jai. I mean the way you punched that guy the other day made me swoon."
He laughed lightly but it was enough to brighten up this depressing room. "Ava?" He looked at me. "Are you flirting with me?"
On normal circumstances, I would have completely denied this. This, however, was not a normal circumstance. "Maybe I am."
He grabbed me by the waist and put me on top of his lap. "You should flirt with me more often." He smirked. I was beginning to feel uncomfortable because we were too close to each other physically. The fact that Jai smelled so amazing and that he was still holding my hand didn't help make me feel any better. It just made me even more nervous. Why was I even feeling nervous? I shouldn't be feeling this way. "You don't have to deny your love for me anymore!" He joked and I slapped the side of his head.
"You need to get over yourself." I tried saying, but since I was nervous it came out like, "youneeftogetoferyourfelt"
He smiled mischievously. This couldn't be good. "Am I making you nervous?" I felt his breath on my neck and I quickly jumped away from him. He was not going to do that again.
"You already gave me this ugly hickey." I slid my shirt a little down to show him. "It's already difficult trying to cover this one up so no fucking way are you going to give me another one."
"One?" He laughed. "I was actually planning on giving you fifty more."
I was about to slap him once again, but I heard a voice behind me. "Jai?"
I turned around to see that Hailey was awake. All the tension in the room was back. He put me on the chair next to his and got up.
Hailey was beautiful. I know it's not right to be jealous of someone who went through something as horrible as she did, but I myself was jealous. She had the prettiest brown hair. It was wavy and went up to her shoulders. Her eyes were a shiny hazel color. Her skin had a few scars which were probably from the accident. I was absolutely nothing compared to Hailey.
