It was a couple days after my hospital visit when I received an anonymous text message from a blocked number. I was in a deep sleep, full of all kinds of nightmares and full of all types of memories, when I heard my cellphone ring indicating I got a text message. The first thing I noticed was that it was three thirty in the morning and I had school in a couple hours. I sighed and unlocked my phone to view the message.
Big mistake.
To: Ava
So sad to hear about the fact that you were hospitalized a couple days ago. But you're a strong girl who went through some really interesting things. You remember, don't you? All the times your mom threatened you and almost killed you. Let's talk about the time when your mom decided to set the entire house of fire. It's funny, Ava. It's really funny and really amusing to me. You almost died in that fire.
My hands began to shake. I continued reading.
I like how strong you are. Your strength is one of the many things that I love about you. Now, I'm not exactly a stalker but I do know that your mother is in danger. If you want more information, meet me in the ally next to the school around 8pm. It's right next to the school.
Don't try calling the police.
-See you soon.
I threw my phone on the floor, not caring whether it broke into pieces or not. Fear crept through my veins and my entire body. My hands were sweating and I was shaking. How did this stranger know so much about me? He knew about the fire and everything else. No one knew about that stuff. Not a single soul knew. So many questions went through my mind.
Who was this?
How did he find my number?
How did he know I was hospitalized?
I wanted so badly to call the police and get them to track this number, but this man specifically said I can't call the police. I couldn't sleep anymore. I stared at the wall for hours, trying to figure out what was going on. My mom was in trouble and some stranger knew about it. This stranger knew everything else too. And he wanted to meet me in an ally? I wasn't the smartest person out there, but I knew that no one tells someone to meet in an ally unless it involves something dangerous or scary.
Tears that I kept inside of me finally released and I was sobbing uncontrollably. I despised how weak I was. I hated the fact that my mom got herself into some trouble again, and no one could help her except me. I shouldn't even be helping her. I should just leave her alone and distance myself away from her completely. My pillow was wet from all the tears. I walked to my dressing table and opened the bottom drawer. I found my sleeping pills and I put a handful of them in my mouth.
And before I knew it, I lost all consciousness.

[JAI'S POV]
"Summer, I told you about a billion and one times that I'm seriously not interested." I pushed her away from me.
This is exactly why I didn't like coming to school early. Everytime I came early, this annoying thing attacked me.
She frowned, but still refused to get off of my lap. "Why do you act like this?" She asked in her whiny voice. ""You don't have to make things so complicated." She began playing with my hair and that's when I pushed her off my lap and she fell on the floor.
I fixed my hair while ignoring her glares. "See, there's this other girl that I'm kinda interested in." I smiled. "She actually has some class, unlike you."
"She must be a whore." She got up and wiped her shorts. "You'll come back once you realize she's just using you." She leaned in closer and I moved back. "And I won't accept you back."
