•Chapter 9•

The moment that the door that led to the basement was closed, the surface of my hand began to sting. The pain started out like small pricks of a needle, but then it felt as if a knife was cutting the flesh. I looked down at my hand.

Red makes began to form on the skin. It turned into black light markings. I rushed off the bed, trying to ignore the pain in my hand. "Harry!" I blurted. He was immediately at my side. He took in my pained features. He looked down to my hand and his eyes locked on the marks and the emerald color faded to a red. "What's happening?" I asked.

I focused on his blood red eyes as her examined my hand is if an unknown species that he'd never seen before. Why wasn't he telling me what was going on? "You've been marked, Sarah. Since I told you more about me, where ever the vampire was bitten, the mark forms into the mortals skin like a tattoo. It can never be undone unless by done by certain people." He looked me straight in the eyes. "That's why I immediately left." He stated. "I didn't know that this would happen this early." The marks began to burn on the surface of skin. The pattern ended up to be a small rose that took up the space of the back of my hand.

"Were you intending on this to happen?" I asked, my breath coming out in short puffs.

"Yes, but not so soon." He noticed at the pain I was in. "Come with me." He dragged me to the basement, an area I was never allowed in unless I was granted the permission.

He grabbed some sort of liquid from a bottle, it looked like water but was a little thicker, he then popped the cap. Squirting the thick substance into his large hand, he rubbed it over the surface of the marks, easing the pain. "Thank you." I breathed. "What is that?" I asked.

"My venom, I've kept a small stash down here in case this happened." He replied. That's a little weird to have it on my hand. "I know it's strange, but I'm sure that you'd rather have this than have your hand feel like it going to crumble into pieces." He threatened. His hand slowed the process of the spreading and released my hand.

He grabbed a white cloth and wrapped it around my hand. It seemed as if to be gauze but I wasn't sure.

"Let's go back upstairs." He gently grabbed my wrist, tugging me along with him. "Don't take the wrapping off for tonight. I'll take it off in the morning." He stated as we entered the bed room. He open up my bed side drawer, pulling out the white iPhone that was given to me. He handed me the phone, somehow knowing that I would want to call Nathan.

"Thanks." I mumbled. He was about to leave once again. "Harry? Wait." He faced towards me. "Can you stay with me? Please?" I fumbled with the phone in my hands. "I don't want to talk to anyone but I don't want to be alone." I added.

He stepped closer to me. He slowly placed himself down next to me. Not only then did I realize that his eyes were back to normal but that there's someone inside of him that he keeps hidden. "I'm really sorry this happened to you. I never wanted it to happen this early of you being here."

"Are there others like you? Vampires?" The word rolled off my tongue, foreign to my sense of language.

He slowly nodded, not wanting them to exist at all. "Sadly, yes. You know that I never wanted to end up this way, Sarah."

"What are the others like?" I ignored his statement.

"Very cruel. Abusive. Only wanting their prisoners for blood. I, on the other hand, won't do those things unless necessary." He finished his statement. His voice was soft and sweet as he spoke.

I turned away from him, not wanting to hear anymore of the details.
