•Chapter 18•

Harry followed hot on my trail, not wanting me out of his sight. I rushed to the car, hopping into the front seat. He placed my bags into the trunk. He immediately walked over to his side of the car, getting in and turning the key into the ignition. He sped off without another word. What was going on with him?

***

We pulled in front of the house. He parked the car, getting out and getting my bags. In a flash he was outside again with the passenger door open. "Come on." He nudged his head toward the house. I unbuckled my seat belt as he waited for me patiently.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, getting out of the car, shoving my hands into my purple jumper.

"Nothing." He looked toward the house, not meeting my gaze.
Something was definitely wrong. "Nothing's wrong, Sarah!" He fumed.

I jumped back, hitting the side of the car. I yelped in pain from the healing wounds covering my back. Why did he have to go through with that?

***

Harry was out of the house. I decided to go do some investigating of my own while he was out. I needed to know why he was acting the way he was earlier. I was back with him, wasn't that what he needed?

I slowly walked toward the door of the basement, trying to rid of the horrid memories about 3 weeks ago. I turned the bronze nob in my hands, slowly turning the circle shaped metal. I pushed open the maple door, and began walking down the dark wooden steps to the horrid memories that filled my mind.

I felt the pain in my back increase the further that I went down, my stomach turning. I felt a thin liquid cover my fingertips. I flicked on the light to find blood coating my hands and build up into clots underneath my fingernails. What the hell?

I looked around for the source, only to find nothing. I felt my knees go weak within a flash, and I was on the floor. I tried to crawl back up the steps, only to have the bulb burst into tiny white glass pieces, blinding my vision.

I heard the front door open and slam shut. Immediately recognizing the hard footsteps, I gasped. "Harry!" I yelled, seeking help. Harry's footsteps stopped for a brief second. I yelled again. "Harry! Help!" The basement door opened, revealing light upon my blooded hands.

"Sarah?" Harry came down the steps, coming toward me. "What were you doing down here?" He asked, concern filling his voice.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to--" I was cut off.

"Don't worry about it." He looked down to my bloody hands. "What happened?"

I shook my head. "I don't know." I squeaked. He picked me up from the ground. My legs began to feel themselves again, and my stomach began to cramp from my cries.

"Let's get you cleaned up." Harry spoke, taking me into the bathroom. He placed me on to the sink, grabbing a small towel, running it under hot water. He lifted my hand up into his, running the washcloth over the blood.

"How are you resisting?" I asked, staying focus on his jade eyes.

"Practice." Was all he said before glancing up at me. His hand stuck with the circular motion around my hand, clearing the blood.

The reddened washcloth was soaked into water, cleaning out the blood. He moved to the marked hand, the blood was cleared but the mark kept oozing out the red liquid. "What's going on? It should have stopped my now, right?" I frantically questioned.

"It should have already stopped. Why is this even happening?" He seemed to be talking more to himself. "Hold on. I'll call Liam and see if he can do anything." He never left my side as he pulled out Liam's phone, dialing the number.

***

The bleeding finally stopped after an hour. I've lost too much blood to even stand up straight. Liam ordered me to stay in bed as much as I could, and to have Harry call him if anything happened.

My legs were sprawled out across Harrys lap, his large fingers kneading my sore hand. "I'm really sorry that this had to happen, Sarah." He spoke above a small whisper.

"Don't worry... It's okay." I looked up into his jade eyes, to find him already staring back at me. He slowly took the opportunity to lean in, and place a soft genuine kiss on to my lips.

"Get some sleep, Angel." He whispered, taking my legs off of him and laying me down properly in his strong arms.
