•Chapter 12•
It's been 2 weeks since the mark has appeared. It was currently seven-thirty in the morning. Harry was downstairs making an early breakfast for me. I didn't feel like getting out of bed also I just didn't have the strength to. I had eventually pulled my self up from the bed and walked over to the oak dresser.
I pulled out a pair of dark wash, high waisted jeans, and a coral sweater that Harry bought me a few days ago. I slipped on my pair of black toms and put my bangs into a clip so it would stay out of my blue eyes.
I walked down stairs and heard shuffling come from the.... living room? I walked toward the living room and found an unknown guest in the house. He turned around and I immediately recognized the blue eyes lighting up at my presence.
I ran towards the blue-eyed boy, completely ignoring the mark on my hand. I hugged him like it was the last day of our lives. "I missed you so much, Sarah." He whispered.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you." I replied. I realized that my hand was bare. "I'll be right back." I shot from his grip and ran back into the bed room. There was no way, anyone would know about that mark. I grabbed the bandage that I'm told to wear incase anyone came, that didn't know about the mark.
I walked back into the living room. I stopped and stood behind the wall. I heard Harry's voice carry through the hallways. "You shouldn't even be here. I'm doing this for her. Not for you, and if you even think about telling anyone about where she is... You'll be gone." Harry's voice was filled with venom as he spoke. I clenched my fists into tight balls until Harry spoke up again. "I'm going to go get her. Stay here." I heard his hard footsteps hit the wooden floor. He looked to the side and saw me standing there.
"How could you threaten him like that?" Tears stung at the back of my eyes, threatening to spill.
"I'm sorry, Sarah." He grabbed my hand with the bandage. "This is why I don't want you to go." He pulled me into a light hug. "I'm sorry." He mumbled.
"Just don't do it again." I breathed in his minty scent. It was like a drug. Once you got the first whiff, you only wanted more.
"Go on. He's waiting." He released me and walked back into the bedroom.
I wiped the stray tears from my cheeks. I took a deep breath and walked out to see Nathan. "Hey. Sorry." I forced a smile.
He grinned back. He narrowed his eyes at my hand. "What happened?" He lightly grabbed my wrist.
"Nothing. I just burned my hand really badly. I have to keep it wrapped up for a while until I can get the medication." I lied.
"Oh. How has it been here?" He whispered the last part, probably thinking that Harry was closer than expected.
"It's okay, but I really miss you." I pulled him into another hug. He wrapped his arms protectively around my waist, placing a soft kiss onto my forehead.
"I missed you more. I was going to see if Bethany and Jesy could come, but he wouldn't allow it." He sounded annoyed with Harry.
"Listen, he's not that bad okay? No injuries." I smiled.
"Yeah. Sure." He grumbled.
"What's that suppose to mean?" I fumed, pulling away from the boy.
"Are you seriously trying to protect him? He kidnapped you for god sake. Sarah, you need to figure this out before I do it myself." He growled.
"What do you mean?" I asked, my blood boiling beneath my skin.
"Teach that bastard a lesson for taking you away from me.. I mean us." He caught himself.
"I think you should go." My words allowed him to direct his full attention over to me.
"What?" He breathed, obviously not happy with my answer.
"Go. Nathan." I replied through clenched teeth.
He quickly got up off the couch. "Are you serious? I finally get my one chance to see you and you want me gone?" He yelled.
"Yes." I stood up, trying to meet his height, epically failing to do so. "Now, get out Nathan."
"Fine," he grabbed the white iPhone that was given to me. "Then I'm taking this." He shoved it into his pocket. He slowly turned around, walking towards the door.
Before he finally left, he turned back around. "Go!" I screeched. Harry must've heard the commotion from the bedroom when I heard him jog to the living room.
I was about to throw Nathan out the door when a strong hold grabbed on to my wrist. "Sarah... Calm down." Harry's delicate voice whispered.
Nathan left without another word. "What happened, Sarah?" The moment I turned around, tears spilled from my eyes.
"Shh... It's going to be okay. Calm down." Harry cooed into my ear. He could be so sweet at times, I swear he was a totally different person.
I couldn't muster up a word. My breath was shaky, my hands were trembling. My thoughts were jumbled and I didn't know how I could have ever gone without Nathan. So far, I've proved that I can until now. I broke from my branch, only to fall on the hard ground, earning several bruises.
I just let my best friend walk out of my life, possibly forever.
