Lena ran in with Callie in her arms as their baby girl whimpered and cried and tugged at her ears. Her face was bright red from crying and Lena was crying silently as too not scare her baby buggy further than she already was.
"PLEASE! SOMEONE. MY DAUGHTER IS SICK," she screamed out as a nurse came out since she heard Lena's screams. She touched Callie and had a stretcher brought out and an orderly took Callie beyond the big red double doors. Lena sighed as her heart shattered and she sighed as she went to find Stef.
"Where is she?" Stef asked as Lena eyed her fiance with tears. "Where is my baby girl?"
"They felt her and took her to the back," Lena added. Stef sighed as she closed her eyes and signed and yawned. "Let's sit down," Lena added gently.
"Why?" Stef asked her wife confused.
"We have to wait," Lena added softly. "She had a high temperature at home babe."
Stef nodded her head and grabbed Lena's hand. It took the blonde all she had not to cry for her baby girl at that moment. Callie was her baby girl, her only baby girl. Her and Lena were not going to have more kids.
"She is in good hands," Lena added. "She will be fine and out of here soon."
"Okay," Stef added in a tight smile. "I will call home. My mom and dad are probably up anyway."
"I would imagine," Lena added as Stef walked away. Lena made herself busy by remembering the day she adopted the twins and the triplets.
At the Adams Foster home, Frank picked up the ringing phone and put it to his ear. "Hello?"
"Daddy," Stef added in a whimper.
"Hi baby girl. How is Callie?" Frank asked.
"We don't know yet," Stef added. "They just took her to the back."
"Oh. How are you and Lena holding up?" he asked. Stef burst into tears, the tears that she wanted to hold back, but could not.
"She will be fine baby girl," Frank added. "She is stubborn as a mule."
"She has never been sick before," Stef added. "All the boys' have, but not Callie."
"I understand how you feel. When you got sick for the first time, I was alone with you and mom was on a conference for her job," Frank added. "I called you grandmother's and they swooped right in."
"I don't remember that," Stef added.
"You were eleven months old," Frank added. "I was a mess and they pulled me through."
"Oh," Stef added. "They were both tough."
"That they were baby girl. I sent Mike with some things for you, Lena and Callie."
"Dad? Why?" Stef asked.
"They could keep Callie overnight," Frank added. "Only a precaution."
"Okay," Stef added. "I got to go. Can you tell mom?"
"Sure," Frank added.
Stef came back to find Mike and Lena talking. Lena smiled awkwardly as Stef came into the waiting room. "Thanks for the things, but you can go now."
"BABE!" Lena added in a tone that Stef knew all too well.
"Sorry Mike. I'm just worried."
"Don't be sorry. Remember when the twins stuck beans in their noses and had to be operated on?"
"I forgot about that," Stef added. "I had a lot on my mind that year."
"What did you do and what did I tell you?" Mike asked.
