A Different Type of Family

Bruce's New School

Bruce Oliver Hale eyed the new school and smiled and sighed. He always loved the beach and loved that it was so close to the school. He took in the sun and blue waves that he could see rip across the ocean and meet the sand. 

"Nice view?" Lena Adams Foster asked.

"The best," he added. "Thank you for the opportunity to come here."

"You deserve it, even though you are still in BU like AJ," Lena added. "Ignore people's comments."

"I will," Bruce added. "I was only in juvie to protect my twin sister from getting beat."

"Have you seen her since?" Lena asked. He did not answer her question. She let it slide.

"Your caseworker called me to ask if I wanted to have my hold on my license removed, but I declined. I have eleven kids to worry about," Lena added.

"Don't you mean ten?" he asked.

"Ten," Lena added. "AJ is still at BU," she added. Callie showed up.

"Hi mama," Callie replied as she hugged her mama. "Hi I'm Callie."

"Bruce. Nice to meet you," he added as he smiled. 

"Bruce, Callie will take you to your class, but you aren't in the classes she is in or my other children," Lena added gently. He nodded.

"Lead the way," Bruce added. He really liked Callie. Then Lexi showed up.

"Hi babe," Lexi added. Callie smiled and her grin was huge.

"Hi my love. This is Bruce Hale," Callie added. "He's new."

"Welcome to Anchor Beach," Lexi added. Bruce eyed Lexi and shook her hand.

"Well I got to run," Lexi added. Both her and Callie kissed and Bruce was shocked.

Callie eyed Bruce. "Lexi is my girlfriend. Since we were ten."

"Oh," Bruce added. The 16 year old took Callie out of his mind in an instant. She was already taken. AJ and Bruce hugged once they met up. Callie took Bruce to his first class and all of his classes were basic and not AP or College Prep classes like the Adams Foster kids were, Lexi and the newest Adams Foster kids. Bruce felt divided.

"We can have lunch?" AJ asked.

"Sure," Bruce replied as he walked into his first class. At the end of the day, he had a headache. The van of BU came and took AJ and Bruce home.

On the bus ride. "Are you okay?" AJ asked.

"Yeah just overwhelmed," Bruce added. "The classes were okay, but lots of homework."

"Yup. I'm in AP and College Prep classes," AJ added.

"What?" Bruce asked. "Don't you get like headaches?"

"I've been going to Anchor Beach for years. Callie is the smartest out of all of us."

"I can see that," Bruce added. "I can't believe she has a girlfriend."

"Lexi is great," AJ added as it hit him that Bruce liked his baby sister. "You like Callie?"

"I do, did. She is taken," Bruce added.

"Yup and they love each other," AJ added. "Started going out since they were ten."

"So I heard," Bruce added. "My caseworker called your mama."

"I heard. Sorry," AJ added. 

"Don't worry about it," Bruce added. "I will find a forever home."
