A Different Type of Family

Boys United: BU

Alexander Adams Foster was all smiles as he eyed his mama. "Are you sure?"

"Yes. It is a group home for boys who don't need to be in juvie," Lena added.

"Why can't I come home?" AJ asked in a whine. he eyed her  in a pained look and her heart broke.

"It is BU or juvie?" Lena asked. "Your pick. If you don't want BU. It is here."

"BU," AJ added. "Anything is better than here."

"You leave in a few hours," Lena added. He nodded. He was happy to leave, but he would miss Bruce."

He eyed Bruce. "I heard you are leaving to a nice group home."

"Yup and I asked my mama and she pulled some strings and got you into BU as well," AJ added. 

"What? Really?" Bruce asked.

"Yup," AJ added. "It is better than here."

"Anything is better than here," Bruce added. Both boys' left to BU and eyed the place. They walked into the group home and a man came forward. "I'm Mack Olivier. Welcome to BU."

"AJ Adams Foster," AJ added.

"And I'm Bruce Hale," Bruce added. Mack Olivier nodded. 

"Welcome to Boys' United. BU. We even have a group home for girls, called Girls United, GU," he added. The boys' nodded. "Let's get you settled and a tour of the place?"

"Sure," they both added. AJ eyed a picture and smiled.

"You know my mom?" AJ asked.

"Stephanie is your mom?" he asked shocked.

"Yeah. She adopted me and my older brother before she married mama," AJ added.

"Small world. But yes I know her and Mike," he added. "We went through the academy together."

"Oh," AJ added. "She is overseas with Mike."

"Yup I heard," he added. "I knew they would forget that they had a year left."

"I guess," AJ mumbled. Bruce and AJ got the tour and the same room.

"This is like paradise," Bruce added. AJ nodded.

The boys' were taken to a new school yesterday and it was near BU. 

"I miss ABCC," AJ added.

"What is ABCC?" Bruce asked.

"Anchor Beach Community Charter," AJ added.

"You go there?" Bruce asked. AJ nodded as they walked into a school that had seen better days and a fence that reminded AJ of a prison. "What's this?" AJ asked.

"They check for weapons," Bruce added. "Seems like juvie."

"Yup," AJ added as he was scanned and his backpack searched.

At ABCC, Lena was telephoned by the Principal of Jefferson high school and she smiled and saw the caller ID. "Hi Benjamin," Lena added.

"Hi Lena. Wanted to let you know that AJ is one of our students. What happened?"

"It is a long story," Lena added. "Let's have lunch?"

"Sure," he added. Lena and Ben met up for lunch at Jefferson high.

"MAMA!" AJ added. Lena ran to him and they hugged. Bruce eyed the woman. 

"Hi baby boy!" Lena added. "I know Principal Andrews."

"Oh," AJ added. "This is Bruce."

"Hi Bruce. I'm Lena Adams Foster."

"Bruce Hale," Bruce added. "Thanks for getting us out."
