Captain Cynthia Roberts saw the report from the U.S. Army and sighed. Both Stef and Mike before they became cops insisted for four years in the Army and only completed three years, they had one year left and they Army wanted them. They were drafted and the Captain sighed. They had to go and her hands were tied. She called her best team in and they eyed her.
"Hey Cap, what's up?" Mike asked as he saw her saddened face. Stef eyed this as well.
"I got some news and a report. My hands our tied," she added as she gave them the report. Mike took it and his face grew pale as he gave the report to Stef. She closed her eyes and sighed.
"We did have a year left," she added as Mike nodded. They had to go home and tell their families. For Stef, her wife and kids and parents, in Mike's case, his five kids he had with Stef.
Lena knew her wife had some bad news to tell her. "What is it babe?"
"I never let you know, but Mike and I ensisted in the Army years ago for four years, but we only completed three years," Stef's voice trailed off. Lena eyed her wife and knew what she was trying to tell her.
"A whole year?" Lena asked. Stef nodded. "What are we going to tell the kids?"
"The truth, Mike is coming over as well," she added. Lena nodded as the doorbell rang and Mike was allowed in. He eyed Lena. "So you heard?"
She nodded as they were led into the family room. The kids came home and eyed their moms' and Mike. "What's wrong?" Callie asked scared.
"Kids take a seat," Stef added as Lena held her wife's hand for support.
"What is it mom?" the older set of twins asked. "Is it bad?"
"Um, dad and enlisted in the Army years ago for four years, we only did three," she added.
"You have two have to leave?" Ty asked as Stef and Mike nodded.
"Leave were?" Callie asked. "And for how long?"
"Overseas and for a year," Mike added.
"A year?" Callie asked. "But you can't," she added. Lena understood her daughter and how she felt. She felt the same way.
"We have to baby girl," Stef added. Callie began to cry and ran to up to her room and you heard the door slam. Callie was the sensitive Adams Foster and the only daughter.
"When?" Caleb asked.
"In two weeks," Stef added. The eight boys nodded. The family and Mike got in a huge bear hug.
"Let's go check on baby girl?" Stef asked as Lena and Mike nodded and walked up to Callie's room. They found her crying and crying on her bed. "Oh baby girl," Stef added cooing.
"I'll miss you and daddy, mommy," Callie added. "What are mama and I going to do without you?"
"Eat healthy for a change," Stef added. "Don't worry."
That night, they all slept in the family room together and did that for the next two weeks. At least it was the first week of July.
Stef surprised Lena with a one week trip to Tahiti to spend some last minute time together. The kids stayed with Frank and Sharon and Callie was a little clingy to her Grandma. She loved it though as she eyed her baby doll. "I will miss her too, baby doll."
Callie nodded as she joined her brothers' out in the backyard. AJ eyed her and hugged her tight.
"We will all miss her. But you have us and mama," AJ added.
Callie nodded and hugged him back and went to see Chocolate Thunder.
Two weeks later, Stef was sent to Iraq and Mike was sent to Iran for a year.
