Callie Adams Foster sighed as she ran her first XC meet and she was excited and happy that she joined. She hated that she lied to her mama that she wanted to join a club. All the Adams Foster kids lied at some points in their lives.

"Hi Callie. How did you like the first XC practice?" Coach Daniel Townsend asked.

"It was great and I really like to run," she added. It was his fifth year as a physical education teacher and XC and Track coach. She smiled as she went to do a cool down with the girls.

"Everyone this is Callie. She left home sick yesterday," Townsend added.

All the other girls smiled and nodded at Callie. Callie smiled back and Lexi came into view.

Both girls hugged and decided to stretch. Tia Bowman eyed Callie and introduced herself.

"Hi I'm Tia," Tia added.

"Hi Tia. I'm Callie," she added. "How long have you been running?"

"I just started. You?" Tia asked.

"I did XC and Track summer camp every year," Callie added.

"So you are a pro?" Tia asked.

"I guess," Callie added. "I just love the thrill of the run and all."

"I like to run in the cold," Tia added.

"I haven't decided. By the way this is my girlfriend and best friend Lexi," Callie added.

"Hi Tia," Lexi added as Tia nodded and smiled.

Coach Townsend eyed the girls. "On Friday I will pick the Freshman Captain."

All the girls nodded and eyed him as he left. "Let's hit the showers," Callie added. All the girls nodded and went running for the locker room.

Fifteen minutes later, all the girls were clean and refreshed as they exited the locker room.

Daniel Townsend eyed Kelsey Peters. "How was it Danny?" she asked.

"Great and I think I have my Captain. And you?" he asked.

"I think I found my Captain too," she added as they went to discuss their different runners.

Callie and Lexi went to the library since Lena Adams Foster was still in a meeting.

"Did you need a ride home?" Callie asked. Lexi smirked.

"What?" Callie asked.

"Did you forget that you are coming over to my house to stay overnight?" Lexi asked.

"I forgot. But I will need to ask my mama since I got in trouble," Callie added.

They got back to doing homework and did their Spanish homework together as they did not hear Lena Adams Foster come in.

"Hi Janice is my girl here?" Lena asked as the older woman nodded and pointed.

Lena came over to the back and smiled at seeing Callie and Lexi work on their homework together. "Hi girls," Lena added.

"Hi mama. Did I miss the time?" Callie asked.

"I got done early and the meeting was next door," Lena added. "I remembered you said you were coming here to do homework," Lena added.

"We might have a problem," Callie added. Lena eyed her daughter concerned.

"What baby?" Lena asked.

"I forgot I was going to spend the night at Lexi's house and you did punish me," Callie replied.

Lena nodded and sighed. "I forgot and since you been good you are off of punishment. Just remember that you can't leave or tell someone I gave you permission," Lena stated.
