Dinner For Two

Ciel's POV
Sebastian was dressing me in a black suit as i stared at myself in the mirror. It felt strange to look at my face and not see the star in my eye, for so long it had been there hidden away beneath the black fabric of my patch. Now it was gone, replaced by a lens that recolored it to the same blue as my other eye. Sebastian was remaining silent as he finished dressing me, i had no desire to hear him speak anyway i was too busy trying to think of how i would present myself as a suitor to Jade. Dinner was planned to perfection, nothing less would be expected from a demon butler and I walked to my door with Sebastian following behind me as we walked towards the dining hall. I listened to my steps echo through the manor as we came down the stairs and walked across the entryway. Sebastian opened the door and i walked into the dining room, the table was set to were the plates were next to each other and there was a candelabra that would create a more intimate setting once the lights were dimmed, but for now the room was filled with light and the candles were unlit as i was waiting for her to arrive before having them lighted. The place settings were exactly how i wanted them since i did not want a lot of space between us when i asked her to accept me as a suitor. She was well known for shunning and turning them away in such a way that is most embarrassing, and the stories had circulated around london town to where no one dared to try and court her unless they were head over heels for her. I sat down in my chair since i had nothing else to do as i waited for my dinner guest to arrive. How was i suppose to bring up suitors for conversation, i suppose i could ask her if she had a suitor approach her recently. Ahh why is this so difficult! I've never had problems talking to women before and yet here i sit, nervous as hell all because i've found myself falling for this girl... How is it that my world is being turned upside down by this girl... what was it that made me so interested in her. I sighed inwardly to myself and heard sebastian state he was going to the kitchen to make sure dinner wouldn't be burned. I waved my hand to shoo him away as i contemplated multiple scenario's in which i would ask about courting her. I was lost in my thoughts when i heard a sweet voice break my concentration.

"Ciel, i hope i haven't kept you waiting too long."

I stood from my chair and turned around to face the door and my eyes were wide as i saw her standing there. She was dressed in a dark blue dress and it was slender against her with sleeves that hung down loosely as the bodice of her dress clung tightly to her. It flowed smoothly as she moved from one foot to the other in her steps, each one bringing her closer to me with her hair flowing down her back in the long flowing brown locks with her streaks of auburn and blonde. Her eyes were shining with the light of the room in her purple eyes, they were so beautiful like an amethyst, i could have stared at them for hours if it weren't for the fact it is rude to stare. She had a small and playful smile as she stopped before me, i took her hand and kissed it lightly and then gestured to her seat. Lucius pulled it out for her and then pushed it back in as i sat back down.

"You did not keep me waiting at all, i myself was just thinking of all the men you have turned away in the past, and yet here i find myself in your company."

Sebastian entered followed by Bardroy carrying food as Mey-Rin carried a tray with tea while she was shaking slightly. I watched as i sighed hoping that Mey-Rin won't drop or pour the tea on Jade. The food was arrayed on the table, a roast with potatoes and vegetables was placed on the table. Jade looked at Mey-Rin and watched her as she nervously shook while asking her if she would like tea. Jade nodded and held the cup close to her as she poured, how considerate of her to meet her halfway when Mey-Rin was so nervous. Sebastian served us our portions and i raised my cup to her's as i said a small toast to good company. She smiled at me sweetly and repeated my words and then ate the food. She stated that it was an excellent roast and she was fond of the vegetables that were served along with it. I guess now was a better time than ever.

"So tell me Jade have you had any suitors visit you recently?"

Jade set her cup back down and smiled at me as she shook her head.

"No actually, it has been quiet and i have been enjoying the peace of no suitors coming forward to ask for my acceptance. But i was rather wondering the same about you? Since i've known you you have not spoken of any women that you have interest in. Are you even interested in finding another partner since the cancellation of your engagement?"

Hm, it seems she's laid out a way for me to ask her, i wonder if she did this on purpose? Oh well, the board is set, time to make my move.

"Actually i was going to ask if you would do me the honor of allowing me to court you?"

She had been taking a sip of tea when i asked her and she seemed surprised as she set her cup down rather quickly and coughed. She must have choked on the tea, but i was curious as to how she could not have seen this coming? We had kissed many times, did she think of it as a part of friendship? Have i made a fool of myself? I sat there looking at her as i waited for her reply.

Jade's POV
He want's to be with me? I guess i should have expected this, but from his profile i made of him it was said he had no interest in women. I would be more than happy to be with him.. but i can't help but feel like there is more about him i do not know.. However if i choose to enter into a relationship with him, it would stop the parade of suitors from interrupting my work. Also having the guard dog as a partner could provide me with further spies, i see this as a win win situation. Very well for the first time i will be accepting a suitor, i wonder how the guests at my upcoming birthday ball will take this news. I looked at him with a sweet smile as i spoke to him.

"My dearest Ciel, nothing would make me happier than to accept you as my suitor."

I saw his face relaxed, i couldn't blame him i choked on tea and then stayed silent after him asking me such a big question. It couldn't have been easy for him either, from the way he was so tense he must have been driving himself nearly insane trying to figure out a way to ask me. We enjoyed the rest of our dinner and discussed the details for my birthday bash, but this time we talked about the announcement of our relationship, seeing as we needed to let everyone know that we were no longer available. Ciel held my hand on the table as we talked, he was asking me whether or not i would prefer a masquerade ball or just costumes.

"I have always been fond of masks, it creates an air of mystery amongst the guests and i find it quite fun. It's almost like a game to see who can figure out whom is who under the mask they wear. We could make it a game between us, and the winner will be able to take off the loser's mask therefore making their identity known to the whole party."

He smiled as he kissed my hand, he seemed to be fond of this idea almost as much as i was, and i was looking forward to the fun we would have as we used our skills to figure out who would be who.

"That sounds like an absolutely wonderful idea my dear, and with halloween being the day after tomorrow there isn't much time to waste, we need to find masks for us to wear as well as a beautiful costume for you to wear."

"Ciel, you know my company has the finest ball dresses in the country and throughout several others. But if you would like you can come with me to find a gown, i think it could be quite amusing to see your opinion of our dresses."

"I have seen some examples of your dresses worn by women before, so i know what they look like. Why would you want to take me dress shopping?"

"Because i would enjoy spending time with you, and i would find it amusing to see what kind of dress you would pick out for me. I wander if you would let me choose your outfit for the ball."

Ciel sat there for a moment thinking about my proposition, i actually wasn't sure if i would be capable of picking out a proper outfit for him, i was more familiar with women's dress than i was with mens. Sebastian interrupted both of our thoughts as he came in carrying a cake, it appeared to be red velvet covered in a cream frosting as he placed it in front of us.

"Master for tonight's desert we have a red velvet cake with a cream cheese frosting."

Wow that sounded really good, he served us each a slice and ciel and i returned to our conversation. We must have talked for an hour or two before i found myself yawning. Ciel bid me goodnight and Lucius returned me to my room. After my bath, Lucius dressed me for bed and pulled the covers to keep me warm during the night. It had been quite an eventful day, a twisted game of horror, a candle lit dinner and a request for courting all in one night. I had much to dream about in the night ahead, and soon my eyes were closed with the heaviness of sleep.
