Jade's POV
So strange... to sit on this patio overlooking a garden and to call it mine.. Knowing very well that I had no part in the flowers, the care or even the placement of the roses... There was no great big tree looming over a table near the back, there was no great big hedge to hide an archery range, no pond with small fish to gaze at. Only flowers in neat rows filled my view, great trees near the back were my horizon, and a small white iron table with an empty cup was where I sat. Lady Phantomhive..... I looked at my hand and stared at my ring, I was no longer Lady Shadowhive... I was the Lady Phantomhive...and Ciel was my husband. Husband, yet another strange word to play across my mind and across my tongue. I was a stranger in this home... The servants and workers here were not the people I grew up with, my gardeners were not this strange blonde boy who had absurd amounts of strength. My servants... what would happen to them... where would they go now that i was to live in this strange manor..."Mistress?"
I lifted my eyes from my hand and looked at Lucius, at least one thing was the same. Then again Lucius would follow me wherever i went.. and maybe not just from the contract.. but maybe out of love.. I watched him as he poured more tea into my cup, it was different then the tea i had before.
"Lucius what tea is this?"
"Its your Midnight Dragon tea my lady... the one that your special roses are grown for.."
I nodded my head slightly and took the cup in my hands, i felt a twinge of sadness when i should be overjoyed...but how can someone not feel homesick when you live alone amongst your servants for almost three years. Sure the amount of time was short, but even with that small amount of time i still had a close attachment to my home. I would miss the furnishings of my home, my chair in which i read many books, my de- my eyes widened when i thought of my desk... all my files, they were still at my home. I needed to get my files, if my servants came across those then they would have too much information. I looked at Lucius and said sternly.
"Lucius, go to my manor and gather all my files into a bag. Bring them to me and make sure NO ONE sees you with them.. Thats an order."
Lucius bowed and set off for my manor at once. I sighed again when i was alone. My hand reached into the fold of my dress and pulled out the small letter from the man of my past. I read the lines again as Elsie's ring shone on my hand. How dare he come to my wedding and taunt me like this.. I crumbled the letter in my hands and frowned as i stared out at the garden again.
"Jade.."
My features softened hearing Ciel's voice and i sighed softly putting on a smile as i looked over at him. His eyepatch was still one of the first things i noticed when he walked up to me. What happened to his eye.... he still hadn't told me.. almost a whole year we had been together, but sure only one day as man and wife. Still we were together for a year, i think its time i finally ask him to show me what's behind his patch... Ciel leaned down and kissed me softly smiling before taking a seat next to me.
"What are you thinking about dear?"
I took his hand gently in mine and smiled at him softly, i was about to ask when Sebastian came around the corner and took his place beside Ciel. I leaned over and whispered to Ciel asking to speak to him in private. He agreed and dismissed Sebastian saying he would call for him when he was needed. He turned back to face me and smiled asking me what I needed to say. I took a small breath and said as kindly as i could.
"Ciel.. my darling.. my dear husband.."
I smiled and rubbed my thumb on his hand as I looked at his hand in my own. I lifted my eyes to his again and cupped his cheek gently as i spoke.
"What is behind your eyepatch... I remember that day in my manor when you came over and did not wear it... your eyes were normal.. what do you hide behind this patch?"
He tensed up in my hand and then moved his hand to mine. He took it and kissed it softly as he gave his same excuse of, some things should remain a secret. I was his wife.... if he was worried i would be disgusted by a scarred eye he was wrong.. I didn't care and I told him so. He shook his head and said it was out of the question which only angered me. Finally I stood up and moved to in front of him. I knelt at his feet and looked up at him my hands upon his knees.
"Ciel you can't keep pushing me away like that.... I'm your wife... I love you.. please.. i promise not to be scared or disgusted by whatever it is your hiding behind your patch.. but i won't allow you to keep it hidden from me anymore.. please.. let me see..."
I spoke earnestly to him and he seemed deeply conflicted as he listened to me. I took his hands in mine and kissed them lovingly before looking back up at him whispering please to him. My pleas worked because he heaved a big sigh and then held his head in his hand. He told me to sit down and I did quickly, this was the missing piece from his file. As well as the final piece of the puzzle that was Ciel Phantomhive. He turned his chair to mine and looked at me holding my hands rather tightly in his as he said sternly.
"You must swear to me.. right now, that what your about to see... you won't share with anyone else."
I didn't understand what he meant but i nodded my head and agreed. He removed one of his hands from mine, and i watched with earnest as he lifted his hand to behind his head. He tugged at the string releasing the patch and causing it to fall into his lap. His eye was closed, and from what i saw there was no damage to it.. No disfigurement..then i saw it... His eye opened and instead of a blue eye... I saw purple.. I saw a star.. I saw a demon's contract in his eye..
"Ciel....what is that.."
It was foolish of me to ask this question for I knew very well what it was, but i couldn't have him think i knew what it was.. So that's what was so unsettling about Sebastian.. Sebastian was his demon butler..Ciel told me that there were demons in this world.. and one of them was his butler. He told me that he made a deal with Sebastian to seek vengeance on the men who killed his family. I felt my heart racing in my chest as i stared into his eyes. His contract was similar to mine... except mine wasn't about my family.. it was only Elsie i sought vengeance for.. And my contract stated that I was to be the one to kill him and that Lucius was only to help me contain him. Ciel's stated Sebastian could kill them if ordered or if given the opportunity. I cupped his face in my hand gently and smiled at him.
"So... my husband has a demon as his butler.. and hides his mark under a patch looking like a pirate.."
I chuckled at the small wit i added to my sincerity and he smiled chuckling while taking my hand in his. He said he was glad I wasn't afraid, he promised that Sebastian would bring no harm to me. I believed this to be true, but not because of Ciel. Because Lucius would have a battle with Sebastian if he even looked at me wrong. Ciel told me he was glad I was so understanding and that it was one of the many traits he admired about me. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of sorrow for not telling him the whole truth. The truth that i too had a contract with a demon, the truth that i had kissed and come close many times to having him in my bed, the truth that i ended up falling in love with my demonic butler. I kissed his cheek softly and told him that as his wife it was my duty to be understanding, and that in no way did this affect my feelings towards him. That i still loved him and was still glad to be his wife.
"Young Master.."
Ciel looked away from me and looked at Sebastian as he stood there on the side. How long had he been there? It didn't matter, apparently someone named Ash brought him a letter from the queen regarding a mission and that he was wondering if he wanted him to place it in his office. Ciel shook his head, gave me a gentle kiss and then left me alone again in the garden.... Alone on the patio in my new home.. Alone with the new information regarding my husband all the while he never knew.. that i had a similar mark of sorts upon my arm.. I looked down at my arm and gently placed my fingers on the sleeve of my dress over my mark and felt the familiar glow and heat emit from it as i looked out into the many colors of the roses in their neat rows of pots and beds.
