Jade's POV

We were sitting in the small dining room silently as we ate and every time i gazed up i saw him smiling at me only to look down quickly blushing as he poked his food with the fork. I smiled and giggled to myself as i took another bite of the delicious quiche mad of eggs and ham that was prepared for us by his butler Sebastian. It had also been brought to my attention that i was not at the Phantomhive Manor as i had thought, but that i was currently residing in the town home of dear Ciel since it was after all that oh so tedious time of switching homes for the seasonal balls. After this fact was brought to light it made more sense to me as to why i felt the manor had grown smaller and that it was not so difficult to find one's way around the home. The dining room was very standard in decor and the furnishings consisted of six dark wooden chairs with dark red upholstery and a large mahogany table which had a white linen tablecloth while plates where arranged for other guests that seemed invisible to our eyes. It was a lovely home, but what made it the most enjoyable was the company of my now fiancé Ciel Phantomhive. Ever since my acceptance, granted it was only yesterday, i've begun noticing how much i enjoyed his company. The way he looked so deep in thought over the smallest things, his dedication to his job, and the way he spoke with such demeanor of pride and high class moral was chilling and intimidating. To me though it was a sign of intellect, a way for me to know here was someone i could spend hours having intellectual conversations with and not over flowers and silly things like other noblewomen, but over murders and investigations. Things that actually captured my fancy.

"My lord it appears Madame Red is here... and she says you should have a look at the paper."

My thoughts were deterred by the sound of Sebastians cool voice breaking through the wonderful silence of our company which was soon followed by four new faces, well one familiar and three foreign, entering the dining room. Madame Red kept true to her name and was dressed in a blood red dress, her short scarlet hair hanging free by her face. A man of timid appearance stood by her side and to be quite honest he looked like he was going to faint the moment he caught sight of either me or of Lucius who stood right by my side. Madame Red was tickled with a fancy as she smiled coyly at my butler before proceeding to be outstepped by a man of chinese looking origins with a rather busty chinese woman in a extremely short dress hanging on to him as he walked over to me and peered at me with his eyes closed.

"My my what an exquisite gem you have collected young lord, do tell me where you find such fine creatures such as her.."

Creature! I felt offended and disgusted by the names he called me and i was just about to voice that when Sebastian spoke clearly and quite cooly.

"This is the young Lady Shadowhive of the Shadowhive family, she is currently staying with us while in town."

The man looked away from me and to the young lord as he sat a paper down and spoke condescendingly.

"It appears there was another murder the night of the ball.... The Viscount is not your killer."

Ciel jumped from his seat with anger and threw his plates and cups off the table with a yell of outrage before slamming his hands on the table staring at the paper with such hatred as if the paper itself was the murderer... I had never seen him so angry before and Lucius had placed his hand on my shoulder in case Ciel where to launch items across the table in his rage. I didn't know whether to laugh at this display or to stand and be comforting to him, i chose a third option and remained seated holding my tea cup while the steam rose off it slowly and gently braced my nose with its scent.

"Now now nephew there is no need for you to act in such a way in the presence of a lady.."

Madame Red had taken a seat next to me smiling as i moved my hand to hide the ring Ciel had given me. I did not think it wise to let anyone else know of my engagement just yet, especially now that Ciel was in such a tantrum it would only cause him to become flustered should they question him on his proposal. Yet despite my attempts at not flustering him, it seemed his aunt did it for me with the mention of my presence. Ciel had flushed red and stood up straight adjusting the bow tie around his neck since it had loosened slightly and crooked to the left.
