"Have any of you ever shot with portrait lighting?" He asked the class as he dragged the heavy lamps over to the backdrop.
"Someone come up here." He said, watching as Matt walked up to the table.
"Sit down." He said, and adjusted the lights around him.
"You see how you can manipulate the lighting to change the tone." He then snapped a picture, and passed the camera around for the students to see.
"Straight on is mostly commercial. But if we move the lighting to the side, it's more dramatic." Once the camera got back to him, he took another picture, and once again passed it around the room.
"The last one." He was interrupted by Kyle.
"Hey Dan, oh. Sorry I'll come back later." The man mumbled.
"Wait, come here." He said watching as the bearded teacher came to him.
"Matt help me move this light." He said to the boy, the two dragging the heavy black light to the stool.
"Would you mind?" He asked Kyle, who didn't mind.
"This last light is a black light. Normally if you were taking a black light portrait you would use paint, but it's also cool by itself." He explained to the class.
Dan then snapped a picture.
He first showed Kyle, who gasped in response.
"My teeth!" He laughed, the picture making them glow a light blue.
He passed the camera around the classroom, a few students giggling. Kyle himself as laughing at the portrait.
"Alright guys, get with a partner, and head into the studio. Shoot one of each style. You have the rest of the period." He told the class, watching as the students went into the studio, leaving him and Kyle alone in the classroom.
"So you're a photographer I see." Kyle laughed, spinning around on the stool.
"Well, I mean I teach it." He awkwardly said, scratching the back of his neck.
"Excuse my idiocy. I've always wanted to be good at photography. But my pictures always turned out blurry messes." He chuckled to himself, thinking of the photography phase he had in Highschool.
"It's pretty easy. But it take time you know?" The other man shook his head, he really didn't know what any of it was like. For four years of his life he had carried around a camera and took pictures, but he had never taken the time to learn how.
"Will you teach me?" He asked, picking up the camera.
"Uh sure. I'm not too good at it myself, but I can try." Dan said, blushing. In all honesty he knew that he was pretty good, in fact if he had wanted to major in photography he could have easily done it.
"Don't shit yourself, you know you're good." Kyle laughed, shoving his shoulder gently into Dan's arm.
"I don't wanna be rude, but shouldn't you be teaching right now." He said, listening to the noisy class next door.
"Shit I told those bastards to keep quiet. Well I'll go now and leave you to your class. I guess I'll see you later or tomorrow or sometime." Kyle rambled, blushing at the end.
"Audios Dan." He chirped, and left the classroom.
