When he woke up, he was surrounded my familiar faces. Teachers from the school surrounded his bed, all watching him as he woke up. Even the cranky teachers were there, holding a bouquet of flowers. And then there was Kyle.

He was in a state of shock after walking in on what he had. All he had wanted was to see how Dan had taken the talk Mr. Gordon had given him. Never had he ever thought he would walk in on the bloody mess.

His body was laying unconscious on the tile flooring of the kitchen. Around him was a puddle of dried blood and a puddle of vomit next to his head. The scene in front of him was absolutely terrible.

Dan's eyes then landed on Kyle, watching as his lip quivered and shook. Tears were already making their way down his cheeks, and his hands had a slight tremble to them.

He tried speaking, but Kyle quickly shushed him.

"You just had your stomach pumped. Don't say anything, it'll hurt your throat." With that he shook his head, feeling an emptiness in him he had never felt.

"Can I speak to him alone." Kyle asked the group of teachers, watching as they nodded and went out into the hallway.

For a moment nobody dared the first word. Both were equally scared to speak to the other, both for completely separate reasons.

"Sorry." Dan was the first. His voice was raw, and so quiet that Kyle could barely hear it. It made his throat feel like it was on fire, but he didn't care. In fact he welcomed the pain.

"I didn't mean to end it."

He didn't want Kyle to think that what he did was night was what he thought it was. That was his normal routine just with a few slices to the wrist.

Kyle didn't speak. He had no idea what to say that wasn't yelling. All he wanted to do was to tell at Dan. In fact Dan had promised him he would stop.

But he also knew how fragile his friend had become. Yelling and negativity would only drag him down further.

He gently grabbed Dan's wrist that wasn't wrapped, and held it silently.

Dan silently motioned for him to climb into the bed, a slow tear rolling down his cheek. His eyes were red and incredibly swollen, hiding the beautiful sky color that was hidden within them.

He carefully lifted his bandaged arm, and wiped a strand of hair away from Kyle's eye, catching the other man off guard.

Maybe it was the painkillers and Iv's they had him hooked up to. Or maybe he just really liked Kyle.

Dan then lifted his head to Kyle's and planted a small kiss in his forehead, letting out a little giggle.

The overpowering numbness wasn't there for once.

For once his stomach was in knots, his whole body shaking with happy nervousness. He couldn't help but smile despite the amount of pain that was running through him.

"I love youuu." Dan giggled to himself, watching as Kyle smiled sadly at him.

"I gotta go." Kyle said softly, disconnecting himself from Dan. He then stood up, and grabbed him phone from the side table.

"I'll see..." he trailed off when he noticed the other man snoring softly.

Kyle took one more look at his friend, feeling pity ball up in his stomach. The sleeping man had a crooked smile on his face. He looked so happy, innocent even.

But Kyle knew that deep inside it wasn't like that. He knew that deep down there was something very wrong.

And he was determined to find out what.
