"You look amazing Dan." Kyle grinned, pulling Dan into a tight hug. He couldn't help but let out a nervous laugh as Kyle hugged him. He felt like a stalker but he inhaled Kyle's wonderful smell, a mixture of cologne and something he couldn't pin point. Nonetheless it acted almost as the alcohol normally did and calmed him down.

His hands had been shaking for the past hour in anticipation. You would think going on a date with his best friend would take away the nerves. But instead it only increased them. It had to be perfect.

"You ready?" Kyle asked him and led him to his car. The two drove in silence, both of them humming along to the radio.

Little did Dan know how nervous Kyle was. He wanted this date with his best friend to be absolutely perfect.

When they arrived to the restaurant Kyle ordered valet and led dan up to the expensive restaurant.

Once they were sitting down, dan was mentally cursing himself. How could be so dumb and not get himself a better blazer?

The one he wore was from the time he had met with a music producer almost six years ago, and looked like shit. He didn't actually think Kyle would book them a reservation at a five star restaurant.

"I'm a little under dressed." He laughed nervously, watching as Kyle stared him down.

"You look great." He grinned.

"Trust me, I would tell you if you looked like shit." Kyle added, sipping on a beer.

All Dan wanted was a sip of the liquid. He craved the beautiful beverage so much that he could almost feel the foam sliding down his throat. But all he could do was sip on his water and munch on breadsticks to distract himself from the yearning.

"I can't believe we're doing this." Dan said, watching as Kyle's eyes lit up.

"I just can't believe that one, you're still single. And two you agreed."

Dan blushed like a mad man, running a hand through his hair.

"Shut up. I could be saying the same thing. I mean look at you!" He said a little too loud, causing the tables around then to shush them. Both of them burst out laughing unable to control themselves.

"But seriously you look fucking amazing." Dan insisted causing for Kyle to spit out his beer all over the fancy table cloth.

"I fucking hate you." He giggled, cleaning up his mess.

"Hate you too." Dan grinned, and blew kisses at his date.

---

Dinner had now been gone and dessert was sitting on the table, just waiting for dan to devour it.

He looked around making sure Kyle was still in the bathroom before taking the pill out of his pocket. He then checked his watch that was slowly beeping, signaling it was time. The doctor had recommended he find a time and take the pill at that time everyday. And Dan had been a dumbass and picked exactly 10:12.

With one fluid motion he plopped the rather large pill on his tongue and washed it down with the tiniest amount of Kyle's beer.

"Ah." He grinned feeling the mixture reach his stomach.

The problem was that he hadn't noticed Kyle on his way back from the restroom. And so he got to see the whole thing unfold.

"Good piss?" Dan asked him once he sat down.

"Of course." He said watching as Dan acted as nothing had happened. You see if Dan had explained that they were just antidepressants, there would be no problem. But he never did that.

Kyle thought about it for a second, but let it go. Surely Dan, the man he was maybe going to date would tell him what he was doing.

---

"Hey Ky!" A woman said as the two were on their way out. She was an incredibly beautiful blonde, with makeup that was flawless.

"Hey Janna! Dinner was insane." Kyle smiled at the woman hugging her tightly. For the first time in forever Dan felt a pang of jealousy as he saw Kyle hug her.

"Janna meet dan. Dan this is janna my lovely best friend and ex girlfriend." Kyle said, the two shaking hands.

"Nice to meet you." He smiled at her, watching as she smiled back at him.

"Janna here owns this restaurant." Kyle explained, and then gave her one last hug.

"I'll see you around."

---

Kyle was now silently driving home, his free hand in Dan's.

Despite the happiness he felt because of his best friend, he still couldn't get the pill pout of his mind. It played on a loop, taunting him. He thought about asking Dan about it, but thought better.

He should have though.

It would have saved so much time and heartbreak, and pain.
