Summer seemed to be winding down pretty quickly and it was exactly one week before my 21st birthday. I was scheduled to leave the following weekend but I honestly wasn't looking forward to it. I couldn't believe how time was flying by so fast. I knew everything was going to end on a bittersweet note; hopefully more sweet than bitter but I'd leave that up to the man above. If Jay and I were meant to be together for real then this minor separation and distance wouldn't be that much of a problem.

This particular evening, I was sitting in the food court at the Galleria with Tarja and taking a break from some simple shopping.

Yea, we weren't just vacation buddies. Like I said before she was cool as hell; unlike a lot of other catty females that fed off of drama. If you haven't been able to tell by now- I wasn't into having loads of people around me all the time that I referred to as friends. If anything they were merely associates and I didn't have too many of those either. I'd always been content with at least two or three close friends and I already had that in Kelly here and Michelle while I was in VA.

Speaking of which.....it was actually refreshing to hang out with a new face; Kelly was starting to depress me talking about getting over Lorenzo all the damn time. I for one wasn't sure how she was going to go about doing that if she couldn't keep his name out of her vocabulary.

I was so tempted to tell her on several occasions about how he'd stopped by Jay's place that night talking crazy like he expected me to do something with him. Maybe that would help her see the light but I'd learned my lesson the first time I tried to tell her about her man. There was no telling how she'd react to the fact that Renzo may have been attracted to me.

Ugh! My skin's crawling just thinking about it.

Anyway- At this very moment I was contemplating whether or not I should tell Kelly about the little outing Tarja was trying to plan for tonight in honor of my big day. Of course it was a week in advance but I wasn't complaining. Shit, I didn't have anything planned so if someone wanted to celebrate- why the hell would I not? If you ask me I just think she liked to party-a lot- but that's just between me and you.

She chimed in interrupting my thoughts and holding a waffle fry from Chick-Fil-A ever so daintily between her excessively long french manicured nails. "I know you said you were leaving next weekend and of course Jay's going to be swooning your ass on your birthday and then some- so you down?"

"Yea! Where you trynna go? The Avenue?" I knew that was the club where Malik worked. It'd only make since if we went somewhere with a hook up- she obviously wasn't on the same page though.

"Nah! I'm so over that place. It's real nice and all but..." she rolled her eyes and waved her hands. "It's like a back up plan to me now if you get my drift. I'm trynna get my groove on tonight. I don't need Malik's people hawking me down and telling him this that and the other by the time I leave."
