A Week Later

In no way shape or form did I plan on telling anyone so soon (except for Tarja) that Jay and I had managed to overcome our differences. I knew my girls all too well and if I was right they'd be dead set on telling me I was an idiot for even attempting to get back with him for obvious reasons. I just wasn't up for being judged with their closed minded assumptions just yet so I vowed to keep quiet. Unfortunately my actions were saying more than I was aware of.

I was sitting across from Kelly and her baby boy occupying a booth in the T.G.I FRIDAYS™ down the street from my job when the shit hit the fan. Coincidentally RJ had an annual check up this morning with his Pediatrician which was actually located somewhere in the same building I worked in.

It was only right that I do lunch with Kells when she called around the same time I was getting ready to take my lunch break.

Ever since that much needed reconciliation, Jay and I had talked over the phone a total of 4 times that week. Slowly but surely we were getting back on track. Too caught up in an innocent little text conversation with him at the moment, I had no idea all eyes were on me. Well just two of the four opposite of me. RJ

Kelly on the other hand.....

"You're glowing. Who is that?....That Marcus guy?" She beemed giving me a suspicious look.

"Fuh—Hell No." I muttered catching my words and finally setting my phone aside.

Just because she had no shame cursing in front of her child didn't mean I was going to oblige to it as well. Besides, he was around that age where his mind was picking up everything and verbally repeating it to a 'T'.

Jay suggested I stop by this little birthday gathering Ty was having tonight and I agreed. Now was I going to be a good friend and share this tiny bit of information with Kelly is the question? He did say bring some friends. Wasn't exactly what I had in mind for alone time but I guess this would do.

"Then who was it then? I swear you don't tell me nothing." she squirmed patting RJ's roaming hands away from the condiments on the table. I couldn't help but smile when he giggled in a devious manner. He was definitely the cutest little boy and at just the age of 2 could probably have any little girls heart he wanted.

He was growing too fast for my eyes to bear and looked like a little man doing so. Kelly had finally rid his head of all that long curly hair and settled for a close cut against his father's wishes. A replica of some wannabe thug was definitely not the image she wanted for RJ. It was time for a change.

Taking a long sip from the tasty strawberry lemonade in front of me, I clucked my tongue against the roof of my mouth and answered her in a tone almost as quiet as a mouse. "Jay."
