TRISH
"Trish, better be up already!" Kate shouted, banging on the door.
I snapped my eyes open feeling sleepy. The gravity of the Earth was pulling me back to sleep. I really need more sleep.
"Give me ten minutes!" I shouted back, eyes still shut.
"No! Get up or I'll throw you a bucket of water" She retorded.
I groaned pushing myself up to sitting. I rubbed my face, looking a bit dazed. "I'm up"
Kate stomped down the hall. It was 3 in the afternoon. I slept the whole day so that I could retrieve the nights that I lack sleep. After taking a bath, I wore a black dress from H&M, braided my hair and applied make-up to lighten up my face.
I checked my phone hoping that there's a message from Jb but there wasn't. Infact, there was no text from anyone.
Disappointed, I went downstairs and saw Kate and Aunt Molly in the kitchen. They were discussing something when I entered.
"What's up?" I said walking towards the table to get some coffee.
"You look pretty, Trish" Aunt Molly said.
"Thanks"
Suddenly, my phone rang. Jb. Finally.
"Hey"
"Uh Trish, this is Aly. I'm not sure how to say this but Jb had an accident"
My heart sank. JB ACCIDENT JB ACCIDENT.
"Wh-what? Where is she?" I stuttered.
"At the basketball court near Jerry's cafe"
"Okay I'm on my way" I ended the phone call. Kate and Aunt Molly was staring at me trying to guess my puzzled expression.
"Jb had an accident. I'm going to her now"
Kate got her keys and pouch rushing towards the door to follow me. "I'll go with you"
She drove towards the basketball court while I was sitting impatiently at the passengers's seat. When Kate parked the car, I opened the door quickly. I ran towards the main entrance praying that it wasn't a major accident. I hope she's okay.
I stormed inside the court while Kate followed me from behind. It was dark. The lights were off and it was quiet.
"Hello?" I said glancing around warily.
The lights flashed open and it nearly blinded me. Everything was a blur.
Someone caught my arm. I blinked several times trying to gaze at the person.
Jb? Don't tell me she's an angel because she really looks like one. Grinning widely, she stood in front of me grinning widely.
She was okay. She didn't have an accident.
"Hey happy birthday" She whispered kissing my hands. It was my birthday. She knew.
I glanced around and saw some of our schoolmates hanging out at the dance floor. The gang was complete and Jb's friends too. Uncle Robert, Aunt Molly and the girls were also there eating at the corner table. They all lined up greeting me a happy birthday after Jb broke the hug. More than blessed, I smiled at them. When the line started to dissolve, Aiden walked towards me.
"Hey" I smirked.
"Happy Birthday, Beatrice"
He said my name and it didn't hurt. It was the sweetest word I've ever heard.
