AIDEN
I was at the locker with my team mates getting ready for the game tonight. It was our first game of the season and we're expected to win this. My family including Trish are going to watch so I really need to do my best. But how am I suppose to focus if Trish is there watching me with Jb? Well they're not alone. They're with Kate and the gang. So it's not a date.
"You're going to the party tonight?" Jake asked.
"I don't know"
"Come one dude! Have some fun! You're acting really weird these past few weeks. Really weird" Dean emphasized on the word weird. I guess they noticed.
It's been two months since I heard my parents arguing about something that bugged me every time. I couldn't believe it and I needed more answers.
"I'll see" I replied to Dean who sighed loudly.
Our team was called. We went to the field. Cheering loudly, the crowd applauded. I saw Trish, Jb, the gang and my family sitting all together at the bleachers.
Is this an inspiration or a big distraction? There's only one way to find out. The game started and distraction won over my inspirations.
As the running back of the team, I haven't scored any touchdown yet unlike in our other games. I was the star of the team but I couldn't bring the shine out of me tonight.
On the fouth period, I scored a touchdown, a field goal and a safety. I was too desperate in scoring points. But my perseverance wasn't enough.
The score was 15-11 in favor of the other team. We lost.
My team mates tapped my shoulders as we walk back to the bench. "It's okay, Aiden. We did our best" they kept on saying to me. It's not okay and I obviously didn't gave my very best.
I broke down and fell on the ground. It's my fault. The team circled around me trying to cheer me up.
"Come on Aiden"
I didn't answer. I buried my face in my hands until I heard mom's voice.
The team left me thinking that I need time alone with my mom.
She helped me stood up. Hugging me tightly, I buried my face on her chest sobbing. I never sob in public but I couldn't hide it anymore.
Stroking my back, she said "shh it's okay, Aiden"
I'm not just crying because of the game, I'm also crying because of the hardships I'm facing.
I shook my head.
"Let's just go home okay?"
I nodded breaking the hug.
Jake insisted on bringing my car home so I can ride with my family. I was feeling blue though the girls did their best to cheer me up.
When we got home, I strode up to my room. I ran back over to my bed and threw myself on it. I couldn't stop sobbing. I hugged my damp pillow. My tears represents the unspoken words.
My mother stepped in my room saying, "You're still crying?"
I crawled over to her and wrapped my arms around her tightly, clinging to her as if my life depended on it.
"Sometimes you have to forget what you want and remember what you deserve, Aiden."
I didn't answer.
My mother left me when Jake arrived.
"You okay now bro?" He asked sitting beside me on the bed.
