AIDEN

Yfka and Misha messaged me a while ago. They told me to meet them at the cafe near our dorms because they want to have a cup of coffee with me so we could continue chatting about my pure intentions with their close friend. I did not think twice to say yes since it is what I need right now. I need their advice because I have already spent ten nights thinking about how I will make my proposal special.

Walking towards the cafe, the memory I had back in Chicago suddenly crossed my mind. It was breakfast and I guess the first day of school for Trish and I. My parents told us stories about their relationship and how dad proposed to mom. Back then, I didn't know the truth about Trish's mother. I was so bitter and when my sister asked me how I'm going to propose in the future and I told her that I'm never going to do it because I couldn't marry the girl I truly love. Now the words I said are like balls thrown at me but I thought of it like cotton balls because I realized that anything can happen if it is really meant to be; either it is a blessing to be treasured or a lesson to be learned.

I finally arrived the cafe and glanced around the tables outside. I saw Yfka and Misha at the corner table, waving at me. I walked closer, hugging my laptop tighter.

"So when are you going to make it official?" Misha immediately asked when I reached them. Placing my laptop down on the table, I shrugged, not sure of what to say because as of now, I'm not yet done choosing from my options. When the day comes that I'll ask her to be my girl, I want it to be memorable. I want everything to be in place because I want my girl to be more than happy so I said, "I'm not sure but I'm planning to ask her in Chicago during winter break" making both of them frown. Yfka interjected, "But that's months away! So you'll court her for the rest of the months? That's so years ago, Aiden. No one courts a girl that long for goodness sake and you've been in love with her for years"

I sat down on the chair across the both of them. I decided to chat with Trish's friends one by one to ask for their opinion. I want to make sure that they're okay with me and Trish being together as a couple because I don't want any of them against our relationship. I first talked to Alexia when I cooked breakfast for Trish I told her I'm serious about her friend and that I'll take care of her no matter what happens. I will not let Trish down and I'm willing to do anything to make her happy even if the payment is my life.

I was silent for a moment until I retorted, "I am doing it because I really love her, Misha. I want to show her that I am serious about her. I am willing to wait even if it will take me years to get her. I am willing to risk everything just for her. Patience is bitter but I know the fruit is sweet because in the end, I'll get to spend my life with Trish" making the both of them speechless because of my sudden reply.

They flashed me a smile as if they're telling me that I'm doing the right thing and they're more than happy to help me.

"I know you'll both end up together" Misha said and took a sip of her coffee.

After a few minutes, Alexia suddenly approached us and sat on the vacant chair beside me. Looking pissed, she didn't say a word to us until Yfka decided to break the silence by asking, "What happened?" making Alexia roll her eyes and start telling stories that none of us could understand because she spoke to fast as if she was being chased by a mob.

"Calm dowm" Misha shouted then Alexia kept quiet. She let out a heavy breath and said, "I just saw Tyler with another girl and they look so happy" making me snicker.

Tyler is nothing but trouble. I tapped Alexia's back and said, "Don't worry. I'll talk to him later" trying to make her feel okay. She nodded and Yfka jumped back to our topic a while ago. "Why don't you ask her in California? The place is romantic and you can do it in the beach!" Yfka suggested, looking really excited but I've decided to do it in Chicago. I dubiously retorted, "I don't know" then she uttered a loud sigh and blurted, "Why do you want to do it in Chicago? We'll go to California sooner"
