Chapter Nineteen
TRISH
Run baby run don't ever look back ... Don't say that we're not meant to be run baby run ... forever will be, you and me.
Check Yes Juliet was playing so I knew that someone was calling me. I changed my ring tone last night when I heard Check Yes Juliet on the radio. I instantly fell in love with the song. Well, Thank you We The Kings!
Mouthing the lyrics of the song, I draw up clambering my way, with eyes still screwed up, to the table near the window. My right hand explored the table, searching for the phone. Ahh finally a rectangular shape.
I snapped my eyes open, looking at the screen. Mrs. Bradfort?
Pressing answer, I said "Hello"
"Hi Trish, how are you doing?"
"Uh, hello again Mrs. Bradfort. I'm fine, how are you?"
"The same but we're still not used not having Jb around but anyway, when I was fixing Jb's stuff, I saw a box for you kept in her closet"
Flopping into the bed, I asked "A box?"
"Yes, your name's all over it so I'm guessing that it's meant to be given to you"
"Oh can I pick it up this afternoon?"
"Sure call me when you're near okay?"
"Yes, Mrs. Bradfort. Thank you for informing me"
"Just call me Anna, okay?"
"But I respect you too much, Mrs. Bradfort"
"You're like a family member, Trish. Don't worry"
"Thank you! That means so much to me"
"My daughter loved you and I will also love you like my own"
Feeling a tug on the corner of my lips, I replied "I really appreciate it, Anna. Thank you"
"You're always welcome. I'll see you this afternoon?"
"Yes" I ended the call.
I stirred on the bed, burying my face on the pillow. "Jb" I gasped. I missed her. Good thing, I was able to bear down depression.
Lazy, I hauled to my closet lugging off my tank top and shorts. I changed into my long sleeves and jeans. Putting my boots on, I sighed. "Winter life" I mumbled. When I was done dressing up, I fixed my makeup then halted downstairs, in the kitchen.
"Hey" I greeted, entering the kitchen. Aunt Molly, Aiden and the girls were all sitting at the island bar, eating pancakes.
"What's up? Where are you going?" Aunt Molly asked, placing more syrup to the pancakes.
I clambered on my seat, saying, "I'm going to pick up a box and probably meet Kate and the girls tonight"
"A box?"
"Yes, Mrs. Bradfort called me a while ago. She asked me to fetch the box that Jb left for me"
"Oh you should bring Aiden with you"
"Uh no it's okay"
"No, the weather is too risky for you to drive on your own. Let him drive"
"Yeah I'll drive you. I'll also meet Jake tonight who unfortunately will meet Kate too" Aiden interrupted before I can decline the offer again. I didn't want to be alone with him. I'm not ready but instead of saying no, I said "Okay" giving him a vague smile.
* * * *
I waited for Aiden in front of his car. I didn't know what to do so I hankered shoveling the snow that blocked our way. The wind was greasy, making me quiver.
