TRISH

Bored, I decided to walk around the village. It was pass nine am when I got out. The streets were relatively quiet. Sketchpad in my right hand, I walked towards the basketball court. Something was urging me to go. I didn't even know why but the wind was pulling me. I sat on the cemented bench. I started sketching the tree near the ring. I can hear someone dribbling but I didn't glance. Not a chance. I was too busy with my drawing.

Thug thug thug something hit me hard on the head. A ball hit me. Hurt, I fell on the floor and everything was a blur. Who the hell hit me?

"I'm so sorry!" A girl. Wait no a boy. What a girl? Huh? Am I hallucinating?

"Why did you hit me!" I shouted squeezing my eyes. My sight went back to normal. Oh what the hell.

A girl. Brown boy cut hair. Thin body. Jb hit me. Jb the star player. Jb Kate's crush. Jb the lesbian. Jb oh Jb. No Jb.

"Sorry! I said I'm sorry!" She tried to reach for my hand to help me stand but I retorted, "No! I don't need your help."

She backed off immediately. She's two inches taller than me. Waiting for me to speak, she gazed at me like a pot of gold. "What?" I said in a cold voice.

"You're the girl who was sitting on the bench last week. The girl who was hungry that I decided to give her my food." I was astonished by what she said. Kate was dying finding her inside the theater while Jb was just beside me? Wow.

"Oh" I was speechless for a moment. "Well you could've shoot the ball carefully so it wouldn't hit me!"

She snorted. "Why are you so mad?"

"You could've killed me there! What if my head hit the floor or something!"

"Would you calm down? At least you're in one piece"

"Ugh you don't know how to value life! Don't you?"

"It's just a ball!" She shouted back.

"Whatever." I collected my things and walked my way back home.

"Where have you been? Mom and Dad was looking for you. You left without saying good bye" Carmela said. The girls ran immediately to me when they saw me come in. I know they wanted answers.

"I went to the court, walked and sorry" I said making my way to the kitchen.

"Trish!" Aunt Molly said relieved. As if I was lost right?

"Calm down auntie. I'm okay" Assuring her, I replied.

Uncle Robert joined us a minute later. "Trish, We need to talk to you"

I nodded. "Gart and the team assigned to your case rummaged the possible suspects of your family's death"

Family. Family. Family. I stayed quite.

"The number one suspect is Senator Griegson" Uncle Ken Griegson? What? My eyes widened when I heard his name. "But he's my father's closest friend? Why why would he kill my family?" I said in disbelief.

"Politics. He was envy and insecure. He treated your father as rival"

I sank down on the seat near me. I felt weak. I felt like I was stabbed in the back. Stabbed with words. I was betrayed.

"Gart said they're doing their best to investigate and give justice to your family" Aunt Molly told me.

"I want justice"

Smiling as we strolled toward class, I gave Kate a sidelong glance. "I saw Jb yesterday" I muttered as quite as possible.
