"I'm sorry Macey, I didn't have another choice," I was sitting in my cell with my back pressed against the bars as I listened to Noah talking. The floor didn't bother me anymore. Actually, I was burning up and sweating profusely.

"I don't understand." I said turning my head to face put the hallway, "wasn't she the one who turned you in to this place?" I couldn't see him but I could hear his sigh from down the hall.

"She did, but only because they would kill her. She told me before we left the safe house. I knew coming in with her was the only was to save her. She cried so much saying she would rather me die than turning me in," he signed again. "It didn't really matter though, they found out how much I care about her, and that I was her mate. They took her and hid her. They used pictures of her being beaten up."

"I'm sorry I didn't know." No, I don't think I knew enough. Every time I felt like I was close to the top, something pushed me back down. It was like I was drowning.

"I know the way you feel for my brother," of course he did it must be sooo obvious. "I know that you're worried that he'll find someone else his mate, didn't he turn 18 a few days ago?" I felt the tear trickle out my eye before I could realize I was sad. Yes, he turned 18 two days ago. By now, he should have found the love of his life.

"Don't worry, I knew I loved Harper before she was my mate. You can feel it, it's not as obvious, but you definitely can," oh gosh, what was he saying now? That Jason could have been my mate before he turned 18?

"How does the whole, changing into a werewolf thing happen?" I asked, I was already dreading the answer.

"Well the blood, my blood, will go through your body and modify every single cell into those of a werewolf. But, your first change will be in about two weeks, and it will be very painful. You will feel every bone in your body changing into your wolf." Great, I hated getting shots at the doctors office, now bone shifting? Great.

Noah was silenced when we heard a shot ring out from down the hallway. Did a guard fire, or an intruder. I stood up pressing my hands to the cold bars, trying to get a glimpse of what was happening.

"I'm going down there, make sure no one else comes up," I knew that voice. That heavenly voice that could make my insides turn to butterflies in one word. Jason.

He walked up to the outside of my cell, he was wearing all black. Even his face held a shadow to it. "I'm here," he said reaching his hand through the bars. He was stopped though, I had forgotten about the mountain ash, the only barrier that lay between me and Jason.

"Go down the hall.... Noah," I said trying to fight the realization that I would be left here. His eyes widened and turned black realizing what I had just said.

"I'm coming back," he said as a statement that he believed in, " I'm not losing you again,"

He didn't know what happened to me though, how I was bitten by his brother. I was scared to what his reaction would be, if he would think of me any differently.

He turned around and walked towards Noah's cell. "Mountain ash," was all I heard Jason say.

"We have to get Harper," I heard Noah respond with. Maybe I was safe after all, but right now I was stuck in this stupid cell.
