Usually since the fight with Chelsey, it made me scared to come to school. But now with the confession with Bretton, I felt a lot more confident.
Once I stepped onto school grounds, the insults began. Everyone I passed would give me a look of disgust, or a nasty comment. Looking ahead of me, I headed into the school. I hadn't spotted Chelsey. Yet. But she might be hanging out at my locker waiting for me, so I slowed down my pace, succesfully ignoring everyone around me.
Someone behind me tightly held onto my right wrist, pulling me back and pressing me roughly against the lockers.
Were the romours getting this bad?
"Please let go of me." I let sternly, looking into the guy's dark brown eyes.
He chuckled darkly. "I think not." His eyes narrowed, and I wondered what his problem was.
"I didn't do anything. Now, let. Me. Go!" By now, everyone from the length of the hall looked torwards our little scene.
"Oh, but you did." His eyes suddenly got dark. "Now-"
"Tanner!" To my right, someone all too familiar roared, pushing him off of me.
"What the hell!" Tanner yelled, now up on his feet. Suddenly Bretton and him stared off into space. After a couple minutes, Bretton was by my side and slipped his arm around my waist. "Mind link. I'll explain it later." He whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. He smirked at my reaction.
Tanner's face fell, and he looked.. ashamed? "I- I'm so sorry." He said to me, and all I could do was stand there, suprised by his words.
As he turned around and sped off, I finally took notice of the people surroundung Bretton and I. Their mouths open, and eyes widened in shock at what they just witnessed. Well, I was too, I had to admit.
When I looked up to Bretton, he was furious. "I need to go to my locker." I whispered. He whipped around, me still held on tightly by the waist, as he stormed throught the crowd of people. The teens quickly got out of his line of path, and I had to practically run to catch up with his long strides.
As my locker came into view, I sighed in relief when Chelsey was no where in sight. Squirming out of Bretton's grasp, I opened my locker and traded my jacket and backpack for my first couple of classes. As I glanced up to Bretton, he was leaning against the locker next to mine, his face still etched with fury. "I'm fine, it's okay." I managed to say, closing my locker.
"It's not okay. And you know that." Bretton grabbed hold of my hand, and my knees felt weak when tingles danced on my skin that was in contact with his. And I couldn't help but notice how my hand fit perfect in his. I noticed he was walking me to my first hour, and I wondered how he knew where it was. As he stopped by my first hour door, he finally said something. "I'll just talk to you at lunch?"
My eyes widened in horror. "N- no. I am not going into that hell hole you call the cafeteria."
"I'll meet you after your third hour and walk with you down, okay?" He paused, and added with a wink, "If you're with me, no one will mess with you."
I stepped onto my tiptoes, and leaned in to whisper in his ear. "No one will mess with the big, bad alpha." He growled in response, and I giggled.
As the bell rang, I turned and ran into my class, waving to him from behind.
