Once I heard the voice, a cold shiver ran down my spine. I knew exactly who it was, but I wasn't about to just turn around and say "Hey, haven't seen you in awhile, how have you been doing? Try to kidnap any more people?" But, instead I just stayed silent, my head still turned away from him, my heart rate increasing by the minute.
I hope Bretton was an insanely fast driver.
Taking a deep breath, I decided to turn around and face him. He looked calm, both his hands in his jeans, and his face attractive. "I thought Bretton told you to get away from here.. his territory?"My voice was suprisingly calm.
"Oh, but don't you see? When I was turned rogue, I didn't care about what he felt anymore. I do as I freaking please." Oof, this guy had some nerve. "I've come to take you to Derek."
"Uh.. I still don't know who Derek is. And, like I said, I'm not leaving with you to see Derek." I folded my arms around my chest, still sat on the couch, he was still standing by the door.
"Derek is... well a friend."
"If he's anything like you, then sorry. Not going. But, even if he wasn't like you, I still wouldn't leave because I'm happy here. And if he is the friend he says he is, he would want me to be happy, right?" I hope I was winning this conversation, but I bet you all I got I wasn't.
"You don't see the whole picture, now please, can we go?" Why was he asking me?
"Why don't you just bring your scaredy a** over here, why don't you?" I ask, getting up off the couch, moving backwards. Away from him. Well, until my back hit the wall.
"I can't. I can't." He muttered under his breath, but loud enough for me to catch it. This guy sure needed some help.
"Uh." I didn't now if I should be scared by his strange demeanor, or what. I didn't really know how to act to these situations, so I just stood there, my mouth slightly opened, and my eyes widened.
I heard the familiar low rumble of Bretton's car, and I sighed with relief. I knew it was him from the familiar feelings my body would have when he was around. I didn't really know what the man would do, but I looked at him, Bretton would know he was here because of his scent. Maybe he even scented him now.
He probably knew what was going on because he darted to the back of my house, where the back door lay. I wouldn't question why he knew it was there, but it seemed logical too, to have a back door. I ran after him, not sure why because he would surely outrun me.
"No!" I yelled as he crashed through the sliding door. "You have to pay for that, you retard!" I yelled, jumping through the now broken door, and watching the fast retreating man that never seemed to give up on getting me to come with him, even if he had some awkward ways of doing it.
My hair flew across my face, obscuring my vision as someone ran past me. I saw Bretton chase after him into the woods, and I had a sickly feeling in my stomach when I couldn't do anything to help. I couldn't do anything, I was just a plain old weak human. If only I could just...
"Lea!"
I turned around to face Braxton and Chad. "Bretton mind linked us, are you alright?"
"Ya, I'm fine." I muttered, kicking pieces of glass that littered my porch. "Who is that guy anyway?"
"He used to be one of our best warriors.. I don't know what got into him, but he all of a sudden just got really distant until we realized he was working for a rogue, by the name of Derek." My eyes widened in surprise. I knew already that he was working for Derek, but I didn't know anyone knew about him. "It looks like he's taking an interest in you."
