     Alex's POV
-----------------------------------------------------------

We burst into the hospital's doors, Thomas' hand in mine and Peggy following close behind us. Thomas and I sat down while Peggy went to the front desk to find out about john. I looked into Thomas' eyes. "What if we're too late? What if he's already gone?"
"Shh," Thomas comforted me as tears began to stream down my face, "its going to be okay. I'm here for you."
I wiped my tears away as Peggy walked over to join us, followed by a nurse. "I'll let him know he has company," said the nurse, putting a hand on Peggy's shoulder and patting it lightly, "he'll see you in a moment."
We sat there silent for what seemed like an eternity, all too nervous to talk to each other. Finally, the nurse came back and gestured for us to follow her. We solemnly walked into the small hospital room.
John looked similar to the last time I had seen him, but at the same time he had changed so much. His bright green eyes that used to sparkle so brightly seemed duller than before, and despite still being young, he had streaks of gray in his mass of curls. He looked paler and older, worn from all the suffering his father had caused him. We all slowly approached the bed.
"Long time no see, Lexi," john laughed. I used to hate it when he called me that, but it seemed so sweet now. "Peggy, god you're gorgeous." I looked over at Peggy, who looked like she could burst into tears at any moment. I turned back to john. He had an expression on his face that I couldn't quite name. It was somewhere between sorrow and sympathy, like he pitied us more than himself.
"Listen," he said, a more serious expression appearing on his face, making him look even older, "I need you guys to know that I love you. The doctors already told me how bad I am." He pointed to the bandage on his abdomen that presumably covered a gunshot wound. "The wound was already infected, and they don't expect me to survive. I need to talk to you each privately." He looked over at me and Thomas. "Can you give us a minute?" We walked out of the room as he took hold of Peggy's hand.

Peggy's POV
-----------------------------------------------------------

John took my hand in his gently as I sat on the side of his bed. He looked much less energetic than the last time I had seen him. I stared into his eyes, and some of the light they used to carry seemed to come back.
"I love you so much," said john, his voice weak and strained, "please don't ever forget that. I would do anything for you, and I know you would do the same for me. You're father warned you about me. He said I would leave you, that I couldn't live up to you. I guess he was right."
"Don't ever say that," I said, gently kissing his hand, "my father knew nothing. I kept you for as long as I could, but now," I started to choke up, "now I have to let you go."
"Just remember you are worth more to me than both of your sisters combined. Don't live in there shadow, create your own shadow for them to stand in." He pulled me in and kissed me softly on the lips. He smelled the same as when I first met h, like coconuts and summer. I pulled him in for a hug.
"Send Alex in after you. I need to say goodbye to him," he said, pulling away from me slowly. I nodded solemnly and walked out, tears filling my eyes.

Alex's POV
-----------------------------------------------------------

I walked in after Peggy came out and rushed over to stand beside john. We stared at each other in amazement, trying to take in everything that had changed about us. Finally he spoke up.
"So you and Thomas, huh?" He said, laughing softly, "I never thought that would happen, but I'm glad you're happy." He grabbed my hand, and his face turned grim. "I need you to tell some things to some people. Peggy won't be able to, I expect. I'm glad I got to know the great Alexander hamilton before he was famous, which you will be someday."
"What do you need me to say?" I asked him quietly. He stared back at me and continued.
"Tell herc and laf to have another round. They deserve it, god I used to love our crazy drunk nights out." He chuckled lightly then continued. "Tell Eliza and Angie to keep being the strong girls they are, but let Peggy join them. She's just as strong as they are, and she deserves to stand with them, not live in their shadow."
I hugged him as tears fell down my face. "I love ya, Alex," he said, wrapping his arms around me, "now send in Thomas. I need his help."

Thomas' POV
-----------------------------------------------------------

I was confused when Alex told me john wanted to talk to me. I had never really known him that well, and I didn't think he would want to talk to me. I walked into the room, a confused look on my face.
"Thomas," john looked at me pleadingly, "I need your help with a few things. First, make sure I'm buried in new York near you guys. I bought a plot of land up there because I don't want to be buried anywhere near my father. Second, I need you to make sure everything at my funeral is yellow. That was always Peggy's favorite color. Oh, and make.sure no one wears black. I want it to be cheerful, not sad. Lastly, take sure my sister find a home near you guys, so they have someone near them, and you can visit them."
I nodded solemnly and started to walk out of the door, but he grabbed my arm. "Hey, make sure to take care of Alex. He loves you, I can see it in his eyes. Now call the others in."
I walked to the door and called Peggy and Alex in. They walked over and each grabbed one of johns hands.
"I've always wanted to die while singing," he said, a smile appearing on his face. He started a melody.
"I may not live to see our glory." Alex and Peggy joined in, "but I will gladly join the fight. And when our children tell our stories they'll tell the story of tonight." His voice slowly faded away as the monitor flatlined.

I'm sorry this was sad for me to write, too. Hope you enjoy! K bye!
