~ Chapter Twelve ~

••Harry••

I did up my fly and shoved on a top before trundling down the stairs- at normal speed. I could feel the eyes of my Mother and Zayn on my back but I didn't give them the attention they needed. All week they've been on my case about Megan and who she really is; the others don't really care as they have their own lady friends or they already know enough (I'm not sure). But ever since Zayn found out he'd slept with my girl, he's been apologising for every little thing and quite frankly, it's really fucking annoying. I spent all of yesterday examining what Meg did in her spare time, soon realising that she hadn't been to work or college since the 'Zayn incident' and no one (not even Georgia) had visited the young girl. So I had to do what she wished, her thoughts made it quite evident that she knew who I was and wanted to know more, so, I knocked on her door and called her name. It was cute; how she just stood rooted to the spot and how I had to enter her house. I could see her body react to me, it was a turn on- her stuttering- and I said the words I've always wanted to say. Interaction.

"Hey Harry- you alright?" Jessica, Niall's girlfriend (who also happens to be 'one of us') was laid across the entire sofa, and lying on her boyfriend. I smiled at her before nodding. "We were just discussing how hormonal you are recently. Every time you come back from seeing that girl across the road, your off to your room to Jack-off. It's grim, man." (We've moved. Yesterday evening the final boxes were placed in the hallway. But being us it's all sorted out...)
I gestured to what she was talking about, making the dirty motion, causing her to grimace. Oh I love teasing this girl.
"Dude, would you mind scarring my lady?" Niall playfully punched my arm as I slumped next to him.
"I'm sure what you to got up to in the shower earlier is what scarred her!" One swift wink and I was out the room, not stupid enough to stay for their reaction. You can't blame me, the whole damn house could hear their moans and that was only the touching. (I had to piss).

I trudged, unwillingly, back to the kitchen where my parents and Zayn were sat in silence. Ignoring the three of them I continued back upstairs. It was a long trek; especially when going at the speed your used to is faster than the speed of light.
"H?" I sighed. Of fucking course Louis' up here.
"What?" He came out of his room looking very stressed. "Jesus, what happened?"
"Come in here, please?" I nodded curtly.
"This better not be any old shit tha-"
"Just listen to me, Harry, it's really important." I tugged at my hair roots before siting down- this was some shit. "Before I begin, you need to promise me you won't fuck up if you get angry?" His eyes were stern, turning bluer by the second; he was nervous.
"You know I can't make fucking promises, Lou. What is this about?"
"Ok, ok- I knew that was too much of a big ask for you. Don't interrupt me ok? It will make this so much easier if you just hold your crap in 'till the end." Nodding, I let him continue.
"When the prophecy-"
"Not this again-"
"Shut up and listen. When the prophecy was first written, over 200 years ago, it wasn't disguised as a novel for anyone to pick up of the shelves; it was a huge great big book at the top of a mountain, guarded by evil spirits. But, when the atomic bombs were dropped, the prophets son decided it would be safer if it were easy to get but hard to understand."
"How do you know this stuff?" My mind was close to exploding- he did this for me?
"I researched," Louis looked down at his toes. "Well, I went to visit Georgia and she told me all she knew. Before you ask, no, I don't know why she hasn't seen Megan."
"Just carry on."
"As you will have realised, the book isn't the prophecy word for word; it's simplified. But some essential details were missed out- like the females name, it never mentions who we are and most importantly it doesn't actually reveal what your true identity is or what really happens to you in the end." He stopped suddenly as if he'd heard someone stood outside. He would know...
"Carry on?" I'm not actually a vampire? I don't actually die? Megan isn't actually the girl? I don't actually fall in love? Millions of questions were filling up my thinking space. He hushed me just as someone knocked on the door. Oh.
"Come in!" Louis called, standing up, shoving me along with him. Zayn opened the door and came in, collecting his books before leaving; not even acknowledging that we were there. Louis shut the door, gesturing to me to sit down again and I did so.
"And? What next?" Louis chuckled slightly.
"That's exactly it, I'm not really sure. Georgia stopped talking after that and just silenced herself as if she shouldn't be telling me this. But she did say one thing and it killed me, it really did- stabbed me right here, in my heart- I couldn't imagine what she was going through, knowing that."
"What? What's this got to do with her again, remind me?"
"Oh Harry, shut up with the damn sarcasm. Megan could be in severe danger- if you do die, what will she do? The City manage to record every single death in this fucking country, how do you expect to get away with yours? They will interrogate her and force her to spill the beans; you'll be leaving her in her own personal hell, Harry." I coughed, spluttered even, trying so hard to not let tears escape that were threatening to fall. If she's hurt... I can't die- I won't die.
"H-how do I stop it?" I combed my hair with my fingers, pulling at the roots in frustration.
"There's only one way, but I don't know if it'll work." His words sunk in. I don't know if it'll work. And if it doesn't?
"Tell me, now. Louis I need to know." The desperation in my voice scared me, I was; I was falling. I couldn't. I need to stop this.
"You, you need to, to prevent t-the prophecy from being fulfilled. I-I'm sorry." Louis whispered. So quietly, the rasp in his voice almost hid the sinful words; his voice cracked as it hit me. I couldn't have her. If she was to be saved, to be free; from pain, interrogation, fear and all things negative, I was to leave her.

"That's not going to happen." We both jumped as Robin opened the door. I glared at Louis- how did he not know that Dad was there?
"W-what?" I stuttered, fumbling for my sincerity.
"I have seen things that are to come; Harry. My son, you are already in too deep. You have fallen in love with this broken piece of treasure. You must fix her and love her- she will come to you eventually. That is a promise."
"But his future can be re-written, Robin, we know that." Louis sounded so aspirated. I sighed.
"So I cannot save her? She will go through the worst pain there is to bare?" My question had already been answered but I wanted someone to correct me, to say I was wrong. Hell I wanted someone to end my life now.
"She can save herself." Robin looked at Louis knowingly. What the-
"You don't mean? What Georgia told me, it's true- it's possible?" Dad chuckled, before nodding his head. "There is hope!"
"I'm sorry, have I missed something?" As the two infront of me laughed, I glared. Is this some kind of sick joke?
"Harry, if she figures out who you really are, she can save you- she can become one of us."
"But you don't even know how! How on earth will she, Megan, 'the broken youth', ever be able to work it out?" My voice was higher, full of sarcasm and desperation.

"'You'll know when the time comes'," Robin winked at me.

{Authors Note}

Dedication: (@littlemissjesshoran) because she has been incredible throughout this entire project. And I wouldn't be where I am without you my lil mesh. X

Note: 1) Ok, I may have had little excited moments toward the end of this chapter. I love Robin. He's one of my favourite characters to develop so... 2) Guess what I've just written? In a sooooooonish chapter? Fuck, I'm still not over the bromances and friendships and sexy-sexy people. Y'all better be ready for it.

If you read the note after this, it will explain why all of a sudden Emily is now Megan. I've been wanting to change it for decades. And don't judge me because it's Megan. I imagine her as Lilly Collins.

Ok, I love you all | Meg x
