~ Chapter Twenty-Five ~

- part two -

"Kate is going to kill us, Ashton Irwin!" I couldn't help but laugh as the cheeky 19 year old ran around the kitchen, flour and eggs dripping from his hair and clothes and flying around the room, landing on every surface it could reach.

"Does it look like I care?" I shook my head, the room slowly misting up. I heard the door bell go causing both myself and Ash to curse violently. We were currently at Jess' parents house, alone, and attempting to bake cookies whilst Jess finished her english essay with Luke at her own house. It was a Saturday, and today Georgia was going, but instead of feeling overcast I was feeling rather happy, and so all our long over due homework was due in on Monday (seeing as none of us have been into college for at least 5 days). I dusted myself off and ran through the house to the front door, not bothering to check the peepy hole- I knew who I'd be. I gulped nervously and opened the large wooden door only to be met by Jade. I sighed with relief.

"I thought you were your Mum!"

Jade laughed. "Nope, she won't be back 'till later. And you know that, so what have you done?" I giggled just remembering what had happened only minutes before. Instead of telling the petite girl, I dragged her to the kitchen and forced her to look inside. Ash was scrubbing his hands with soapy water, egg, milk and flour still everywhere; including his hair. Jade wretched at the sight. I couldn't blame her; it was disgusting.

"Why can I smell burning?" Jade teased, taking off her socks and treading lightly on the slimy kitchen floor. "Ashton?" She dragged on the last letter, her patience clearly running thin.

"Babe, I'm sorry- it's probably the shitty cookies we made. And I'll clear up, so don't get mad, I just need to take a damn shower and get all this... Stuff out my hair." Ash rushed through his words, arms waving around in front of him as he explained. Jade winked at me and smiled back to the grinning curly-headed boy.

"Whatever you say, Ash, just hurry up. I may not care, but Jessica certainly will and if Mum comes back early then..." Jade trailed off.

"We're all fucked!" I finished off, laughter erupting in the room, Ashton leading with his high pitched teenage-girl giggle. What a douche. Jade shook her head, still smiling and left the room again, going upstairs and slamming her door. As usual.

"You like her, huh?" I smirked.

"Wha-no!" Ash was too quick to defend himself and he knew it, swiftly moving on from standing beside me and reviewing the mess, to wetting a cloth and wiping the surfaces.

"You sure about that, because you did your stupid teenage-girl giggle and you only do that when your nervous. And there's no reason to be nervous 'round a girl you don't like, is there Irwin?" I wiggled my eyebrows, Ashton rolling his eyes as a light blush crept up his cheeks.

"Oh shut up and help clear up this mess." His voice now stern, indicating he was serious about this. "Take out the cookies will you? I really can smell burning now." I nodded, doing as he asked. God knows how long this is going to take us.

Fire. So light and calming, so red and burning, so colourful and meaningful, yet harsh and dangerous. Much like a vampire. They're so calm one minute, to a human even normal, but the next they are sucking the life out of another beautiful, sane, mortal victim. So, in conclusion, after much debate (with my own angels and demons), I have come to see that all super natural beings are as heartless and lifeless as a murderer or rapist. Therefore, they could exist, but only in our nightmares.
