4_ Dinner

After I'm done cleaning the mess I made. I sit on the chair and scroll down my Twitter.
I have a direct message from Luke.

Luke:
Hi,
I wanted to tell u about some good news. We have a concert close to Wisconsin and we can reserve tickets for you.
Love Luke

I feel excitement building up inside me. I might actually have a chance to meet 5sos!!

Alex:
OMG!!
Hi , and thank you for informing me. I'll ask my parents if they can drive me there .

Luke instantly answers my message.

Luke:
That's great to hear .
We have a concert in Michigan. It might be far but it's the closest to Wisconsin.
Hope to see u.
Love Luke.

There was no way I could fly to Michigan. We don't have enough money for 2 tickets , and my mom wouldn't let me go there by myself. Don't get me wrong we are not poor or anything but right now the economic situation at home is not okay.

I call my mom and she instantly answers.
"Hi mom"

"Hi sweetie. How are you?"

"Yeah mom I'm great."

I'm thinking about how to ask her , when I hear someone yell from the other side of the line. She'll get in trouble if she keeps talking to me. So I change my mind and decided to tell her when she gets home.

" I wanted to ask you something but it can wait till you get home." I say hurriedly.

"Sure?" She asks unsure.

"Yeah, love you mom."

"Love you too sweetie."

My brother wakes up making noise wherever he goes.

He 2 years younger but he acts like he's younger.

"Good morning , Alex." He says , in his raspy morning voice.

"Morning, Jake."

My brother has hazel eyes and dirty blond hair . He might be younger but he's way taller than me. He might be like 6.2 while im barely 5.2

The day goes on with its usual routine.
It was almost 6 and I had just finished cooking dinner for my parents. I did their favorite.
Stake drizzled with soya sauce and mashed potatoes.
They walk in at exactly 6:12 .
They look surprised at the food in the table.
"Alex what's going on?" My dad asks , curious.

He knows me so well.

"Okay , sit down and I'll tell you while you're having your delicious dinner."

My dad shakes his head a small smile spreading on his face ,while my mom talks asking my brother if he knows anything.

"Alex this is actually a really good meal . You did it better than your  mother." My dad says , after taking a bite.

"Oh. Then don't ever ask me to do it again Mark" my mom says sarcastically.

"You know I love yours." My mom rolls her eyes , continuing her meal.

"Okay ,so you know how much I love 5sos?" I ask.

They nod.

"Okay, and you also know how they have helped me a lot with my problems?"

They nod again . I think they know where I'm going with this.

"So, they have a concert in Michigan. It's the closest they get to Wisconsin . So I was thinking.." my mom cuts me off.

"Alex , what's on your mind?"

"Let me tell you. So I was wondering if I could go.Please?"I give them my puppy dog face, letting a few tears fall.Pouting my lips and batting my eyelashes.

"Alex , sweetie, you know we would let you go but it's really hard."

"You know a ticket to Michigan is expensive with the hotel and the concert ticket is too much right now."

"I know dad. I just wanted to give it a try."
My mom wraps her arms around me.

I know they really want me to go. Anyways I didn't expect them to say yes.
I learnt that long time ago. When you fantasize something and get you hopes up . You will be the only one that ends up heartbroken.
I think that's one of the main reasons I'm always taking pills ,drugging my body.
No matter how many times I tell myself not to hope , I end up having suicidal thoughts or self harming.
So now I don't believe in hope. I only see reality. Dreams and things I desire can bounce in the back of my head but I won't let them control my reality.
I'm not letting them have the power to blind me again..
