Chapter 33

I take Luke with me to the backyard, ignore the looks my parents give me and keep tugging at his sleeve.

"Sunshine, can I please take a shower." I take him upstairs showing him where the bathroom is and giving him all the things he might need.

I need a shower myself, I go downstairs bathroom to prevent his water to go cold. I take a fast shower and change into some pyjama bottoms and Luke's hoodie.

I go back upstairs laying in bed with my phone in my hands. I've called Ashton 5 times and he hasn't picked up or replied to the 10 messages I sent.

Luke walks out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist. His hair sticking into different directions, his body filled with water droplets.

"What are you doing here sunshine? Trying to sneak pick?" A grin forming from the the corner of his mouth. I smile and roll my eyes." No , actually I wanted to talk to you. I'm worried about Ashton,"with the sound of his name , Luke frowns and rubs the back of his head. I've noticed he also does that when he's mad.

"He hasn't answered any of my calls and messages." He just scuffs and wears his bottoms. "Alex , That's his usual act. Don't worry about it." How can he not be worried about his best friend?

I get a text from Ashton.
Ashton:
Hi, sorry I couldn't answer. I'm at our house. Tell your parents thank you for today and nice meeting your cousins. I'm sorry I had to leave like that.

"He's at your house." He doesn't even respond .
"Luke , what the fuck ? He's your best friend and band mate and you don't care if he's okay or not ?" He turns around , his hands on his waist.
"Alex , he's 22 years old , I think he can take care of himself. " I'm so annoyed at Luke right now.

I grab my shoes from under my bed , take my keys and my phone. "Mom , dad , I'm going to my house , I'll be back in about 5 hours or I'll just sleep there and get back in the morning."
My mom looks at my dad and then back at me.
"Okay , just be careful" I nod and run to the backyard to say bye to my cousins."why are you going Al? " should I tell him ? "Ashton" he nods and stands up."I'll go with you." I love the way Calum is always there ."Sure." I walk to the front of the house and sit in the car , Cal joining shotgun.

"What happened?" I shake my head and turn on the engine." Luke won't say , and I'm worried about Ashton, mostly because of the condition he left in." Calum just nods. A smile slowly spreading on his face. "He gave you the ring?" I forgot that I had it on. A smile spreads on my face ." Yeah, but he shouldn't have." Cal rolls his eyes and scuffs. "Alex , you are the only girl I've known that dated on of us, and doesn't like being spoiled. " I laugh.

My phone starts ringing, Cal answers it with "Alex's phone , who needs her?" I smile bringing back memories of the tour. "Shit!" He gives me the phone, putting it on speaker. "What the fuck are you doing Alex? " He's mad and his voice is loud."I'm going home to check on Ashton. I'm not comfortable with the way he left."
"What do you mean? You expect butterflies and rainbows around him?" I roll my eyes at his dumb comment.

I've never seen him or heard him this mad at someone from the band . Actually I've never seen any of them mad at each other. Usually for like 2 minutes fighting about the last bagel, but not this much.

"Luke , can you explain why are you so mad?" My voice slightly rising." Let him tell you." A short pause "put me in speaker so I can tell Calum something."
"I did"
"Calum , if you try any funny buissnes, let something happen to her or let Ashton do anything. I SWEAR I WILL MURDER YOU. EVEN IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO!" Calum seems to get sweaty and nervous. "Bye , sunshine. Be careful." I hang up . The way his tone suddenly changed hit me.

"What the fucking fajitas was that ?" I laugh at Cal . Even in serious situations he has to have one of his weird comments hanging in the air.
"I don't know. He's been mad since Ashton called us , while we were in the river. He saod we had 20 minutes to get back home. The drive took 20 minutes and we were both wet. So we'd have to wait to dry off. I called Gwen to make sure , because my dad is not like that and she tells me he didn't say anything."

Calum takes a deep breath and rubs his face. "what ?" I say with a smile but worried. "Calum what?" Okay , now I'm worried." Okay, so I might die tonight. Wait when are we getting back?"
"Tonight or tomorrow morning." I turn and tell him. "Okay, Calum can you explain what's going on."
He rubs his chin "Al, I can't be the one the one to tell you. Only Ashton has the right to." What is going on ?

                  

We finally get to the boys' house. There is no car so I think he came by bus or something.
I get out of the car with Calum behind me.

He opens the door with his keys and we find Ashton sitting on the couch , ice on his jaw and his feet laying on the coffee table.

"What are you doing here?" He asks while sitting down properly. "I was worried about you , and Luke was extremely mad . I want to know why." I have my fists clenched at my sides. "Alex , you shouldn't have came. I'm fine." Okay .
Now I'm mad." The fuck Ash. I drove 2 hours at night , with poor Calum . Luke is acting all weird after punching you in the jaw and you storming off. Calum has been acting weird all the ride here. So you are telling me what the fuck happend when Luke and I got there after the lake!!" My chest is rising, taking short , shaky breaths .

Ashton walks closer , I notice how painful it is for him to move. Luke most of punched him hard in the gut. He stands in front of me holding both of my hands. Whatever he's about to say is not good. I feel it in my own twisted gut.

"Alex I just don't want you to blame yourself okay. " I nod. Okay, now I know for sure it's not something I want to hear.

"Alex , I'm in love with you..."
