It was the day of the party. The night before I had told my father everything. About my friendship with Jack and the other girls, my future after the competition and even Hiccup. My dad understood but I knew my mother would be another story so I kept it from her.My father promised not to tell her as long as I told her the truth before Jack's announcement.

I was dressed in my gown and had already planned how I would tell her. My maids had done my hair which amazed my mother as she had never been able to tame it. My makeup was done and I was ready for the party.

Jack planned on announcing his bride before the end of the night, which meant I had to tell my mother about Hiccup. Who was escorting me to the party. I saw it as the perfect opportunity to introduce him to my family.

We stood together in the ballroom. My hands were shaking as I had no idea how I was going to come clean. I also hadn't asked Hiccup if he was interested. That was probably important...

"Hiccup, can I ask you something?" I had never been this nervous. Things between us had been awkward since the night of the attack.

"Of course Milady." He chuckled not noticing my shaking.

"After this is all over...Do you um maybe want to be with me?" He froze completely and stared at me like I had three heads.

"Merida, I-"

"I'm sorry. It was a stupid question. I'll just-"

"Stop. Of course I want to be with you." I looked up in shock.

"Really?"

"As long as the prince gives us his blessing, which I assume he will, I will gladly take you as my wife-I mean if we get that far because we've only met recently and haven't spent a enough time together to talk about marriage " Hiccup kept rambling as I looked around the room to make sure no one was watching as I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. He immediately stopped a blush creeping up on is face.

"Now you should come meet my family." I'm smiled as he grinned widely.

Before we could go to track down my parents and brothers, Jack climbed up on stage.

"I would like to thank you all for attending this gathering, especially the families of these girls that I've come to know and love." Everyone hooted and hollered. "I would like you all to know I have made my decision and the girl I will marry is-"

Then the first bullet came. It only grazed Jack's arm but it was enough to send the room into full blown chaos. I watched as more bullets flew hitting guards and guests alike.

I saw a gun pointed at Elsas little sister but before I could scream the bullet was in the air. Elsa jumped in front of her sister letting the bullet hit her.

I screamed in fear as my best friend collapsed to the ground. I didn't even notice the bullet coming towards me. I heard my name fall from the lips of the one I love before he dived in front of me. I collapsed to the ground hitting my head. Only able to see darkness as the screams drowned me in a sleep like no other.
