"You're not my son!"
Those words started the rest of my life. I became a disgrace to my hometown so my father shipped me away to be trained as a guard for the palace. At first I was furious. But I realized he really truly didn't want me in his life anymore. So I packed up a small bag and was sent to Angeles, the capital of Burgess.
I was shoved in a room with nine other boys who varied in age. I was the youngest at ten years old. There was a boy named Kristoff who was twelve a boy named Tadashi who was 16 and an older boy named Flynn who was 19. They made me feel welcome. It was weird. I had only known them a day and they already felt like more of a family.
The next day training began. We were trained by General Li who's son was 18. His son was training to become the personal guard to the prince. The prince was my age and I had always wondered how different we were.

A few months later we were all called to the ballroom wearing our best attire. It was the day we were all supposed to formally meet the prince. I was nervous because it was the day he would be deciding who his personal guard would be. We all knew he would pick Shang but the day was still exciting.
We all stood in a line youngest to oldest. I was among the youngest along with Kristoff and Peter this weird kid who was always talking about his invisible friends who were lost.
The young prince entered and walked by the group of us. He was 9 at the time but he walked with maturity not even Flynn had. He walked by the lot of us practically ignoring the older boys completely. When he reached me, he stopped and looked me over probably wondering how this scrawny kid would ever protect him.
"What's your name?" He asked. I immediately got flustered but managed to spit out my name.
"Hiccup."
"Well if you must..." I stared at my feet like my toes would save me from the awkward situation.
"No sir, my name is Hiccup. " I sighed.
"Who hurt you?" Snickers came from across the line and I knew it was Flynn. "There's no need to call me sir. I'm only nine." He smiled immediately cutting the tension. I nodded. "Father, I like this one!" And with that, those 5 little words, I became the Princes personal guard and he became my best friend.

I was in Jack's room trying to talk him through his problem. He wouldn't tell me what had happened. He just said he did something bad and he lost the girl of his dreams. We talked for a while, then there was banging on the door. I stood up and opened it to a beautiful girl.
Everything about her entranced me. Her twinkling eyes, her fiery red curls, even her scowl intrigued me.
"Miss please go back to your own room the prince wishes to be alone." I said to her doing my best to focus on my job. I recognized her from the home visits. I escorted her to the airport.
"I don't give a Damn what the prince wants. Either you let me in that room or I twist you into a pretzel and break in." She threatened. I stared at her in shock and amazement.
"Miss I really can't let you in there. Please don't turn me into a pretzel." I shielded myself in fear that she would turn me into a pretzel, though I must say if anyone were to do it, I wouldn't mind if it were her.
"Listen to me, Hiccup." The way she said my name made my heart race. "Jack hurt my friend and I have a lot of pent up anger right now. Either I take it out on you or him. And he's probably a lot safer because he's a prince." I was so impressed by her bravery and the way she stood up for her friend that I decided to make a deal.
