I laid Haley down in her crib for her afternoon nap. Pulling her baby blanket up to her chin, I pushed some of her curly dark hair out of her face before starting her mobile up and leaving the room. I closed the door gently and walked over to my room. Plopping down on my bed, I closed my eyes, a bit tired from the day's events so far.

After a bit of rest, I sat up and pulled my cell phone out of my pocket, checking to see if I had maybe missed any calls. Seeing that I hadn't, I closed the cell phone and put it on my nightstand before going over to my laptop. I had no new emails either, which worried me. *Where the hell are Embry and Kat? Or Paul for that matter* I thought as I got back up and picked my cell phone up. I dialed Embry's cell number and waited while it rang, that way I'd be able to speak to both Embry and Kat. I snapped the phone closed as it went to his voice mail. Pacing the room, I started to think up excuses as to why they hadn't made their usual phone call or email to check up on me. *They just lost track of time and forgot. No, they wouldnt do that, this is Paul, Embry and Kat we're talking about. The batteries are dead in the laptop and cell phones. No, they could use Jacob's cell. Oh, they're onto some vampires and just havent had time yet. Yeah, thats it. Totally logical excuse.* I laid back down on my bed and put my arm over my eyes.

I heard Haley crying.  I got up, walking out of my room. I went into Haley's and walked over to her crib. She was crying and squirming around. I gently slid one hand under her neck and the other under her back, before lifting her up and bringing her up to rest against my shoulder.

"Shhh, it's okay. I'm here, I got you." I said soothingly to her as I rubbed her back and gently rocked her.

After I had gotten her calmed down a bit, I walked out of her room and we went down to the kitchen. I sat her down in her high chair before going over to the fridge and getting a bottle of milk out for her. After I had placed it in the microwave for it to warm up, I went over and sat down in front of Haley.

"Hey, little girl." I said softly to her as I let her take hold of my index finger and she swung it around. Smiling at her, I smoothed some of her hair back and looked at her. Haley smiled and giggled as she watched herself move my finger one way, then the other.
As the microwave beeped, I gently pried my finger away from her and stood up. I walked over and got the bottle out. I tested the milk on my wrist to see if it was the right temperature before walking back over to the table and giving Haley her bottle. I watched her face as I held the bottle for her and she sucked from it. She wrapped her little hands around my hand that was holding the bottle. I laughed at her and looked into her eyes. She looked so much like her dad. She had the same dark colored skin as Jacob and I could see a faint similarity when she smiled at me. *I just hope she doesn't turn out completely like him." I thought with a sigh as I tipped the bottle a little more since Haley was having some trouble getting the milk out.

When she was done with her bottle, I lifted her up out of the high chair and balanced her on my hip as I set the bottle in the sink. I twirled around as I walked towards the kitchen door, making Haley giggle and clutch onto my t-shirt. I laughed at her as I walked into our living room and sat down on the couch. Placing her on my lap so that she faced me, I bounced Haley a bit and made funny faces at her. She giggled and covered her face with her arm.
