Rose liked Lilies, not roses. If someone gave her roses, she would give them to Lily. The first boyfriend who knew this and deliberately didn't give her roses was Scorpius, and she loved him for that.
Lily didn't like lilies. She liked roses, and gave her lilies to Rose.
