After the war, the sorting hat generally tends to speak more, which is a nuisance and a blessing. Sometimes it even makes an appearance in the meals of the day, and people can ask to put it on to ask a question.
For Minerva Mc Gonagall, having a wise object is really upsetting. Because it reminds her of Dumbledore, and that he is gone.
