On the eve of the day of the Battle of Hogwarts, Teddy Lupin was sat in his armchair, sobbing.

He was drunk. Very, very drunk.

Victoire, his wife was sitting beside him, rubbing his back.

"MERLIN! TIME-LORD MERLIN COULDN'T YOU SAVE MY MUMMY AND DADDY?!" Teddy shouted.

"Teddy, please. Put down the firewhisky." Victoire pleaded.

"No, the firewhisky makes me feel gooooooood."

"Teddy please, Remus and Tonks wouldn't like to see you like this."

*in the afterlife*

"Well, no one is," Sirius frowned.

"My boy....he shouldn't be crying over me and Tonks.......he should be living his life...wrong...ever since little..I'm so stupid...all my fault," Moony was sitting in the corner shaking his head, head in hands and red eyes. It was always like this. Every year. There was nothing they could do about it. Moony would be the same, and he couldn't do anything about his son.

"Moony...it was never your fault. There was nothing you could do." Lily patted Remus awkwardly on the shoulder, but Remus kept crying. James was also away - looking at Harry, who was at the Ministry, trying desperately not to cry as he looked at the records of James and Lily Potter the first.

*in the present*

"Don't. Don't say their names!"

"Sorry, sorry Teddy."

"Never...my parents...never...."

"There's no way you can see them, Ted."

"BUT I CAN!" Teddy sat straight up.

"Oh god, if this is about the time travel again..."

"No, no Vicky, I promise, no. No no no. No, no no. It's another way."

"The Mirror of Erised? No. You heard Dumbledore's portrait - you'll get addicted again, like in 3rd year. No."

"No, no, not that. The Resurrection Stone."

"God, Teddy. It's gone. Tossed away by Harry."

"But where?"

"Teddy, no."

But Teddy had grabbed Victoire's hand and they were apparating to the guest entrance of the Ministry.

"Who is the guests?"

"Mr Teddy Lupin, god-son of Mr Harry Potter and Mrs Victoire Lupin, Mr Teddy Lupin's wife."

"What are you here for?"

"To see my godfather."

"Access granted."

Teddy made his way up to the Auror office - he barged right into Harry's office, to find a tear trickling down his face as he held a photo album.

"Harry! IwanttoknowthewholestoryagainofwhathappenedwhenyouwalkedtoVoldemort.Whatdidmydadsayagain?"Teddy asked.

"Um....Teddy..." Harry said awkwardly, shifting in his seat slightly.

"TEDDY LUPIN! How dare you burst in on Harry like that and...oh, sorry Harry." Victoire scolded Teddy, only to realise that half of the aurors who were in had looked alarmingly at Harry's office, wondering whether Harry was in danger, and Harry were staring at her. Victoire shut the door, smiled at the aurors, and turned back to Harry.

"I'm very sorry, he's drunk on frewhisky and he isn't right in the head-"

"STORYTIME! STORYTIME WITH HARRY! YAY!" Teddy squealed.

"I'll tell him the story, then he can leave, yes?" Harry sighed.

"Yes," Victoire confirmed.

"And then, I dropped the stone on the floor of the forbidden forest, and went off to walk to Voldemort, and then-" Teddy whizzed out the room.

"Where is he going?" Harry asked, puzzled.

"No idea, thanks Harry, got to go, bye!" Victoire ran out the room, and the aurors stared.

Harry poked his head out the door.

"Family issues." He said simply.

They all nodded gravely.

Teddy was roaming the forbidden forest on hands and knees, prowling around with keen eyes.

Victoire arrived shortly afterwards with a pop that made Teddy jump.

"OH! You scared me. Don't do that, missy." Teddy scolded, laughing.

He kept prowling.

"Teddy let's go home." Victoire tried.

"Teddy stay here. Teddy find stoneeeeee."

"Teddy is going to get really told off tomorrow. Bad Teddy." Victoire scolded.

"Bad Teddy." Teddy muttered, "What a naughty boy he is."

Eventually, Victoire managed to get Teddy back into his bed, where he had a splitting hangover the next day, and Victoire caved and decided that that punishment was enough for him.

Teddy might not have found the stone, but the next day he realised that he had Victoire and the rest of his family, and that although they could never quite replace his birth parents, his family who he grew up with, could help to fill the hole that was left.
