Alexander Nixon
"Thank you everyone for your time today."
I was not feeling too well for the past fifteen minutes and I thought I would be able to make it to the end of the day but I was only feeling more tired as time passed by. I was the first out of the room with Adivia on my tail.
"Adivia clear my schedule for the rest of the day, I'm going home to get some rest, I'll be back during after hours to get some work done but right now I need to leave."
"I'll inform everyone who scheduled any meetings with you today."
"Have David get ready to take me home right now." I rubbed the side of my head hoping it would help to ease the headache, unfortunately, it only got worse.
"I'm on it." She dialed his number and placed the phone at her ears. I nodded in response because I'm too tired to answer verbally.
As soon as David arrived I left immediately, a quick check for notifications on my phone made me realize I needed to make a quick stop by my parents' house owing to the fact that I haven't seen them in a while.
"Mama?" I shouted as soon as I entered the front door, I waited for her to respond which didn't take long.
"In the sewing room." Her voice was faint but her response was clear enough for me to hear. As I entered the room I could see she was focused on whatever it is she was designing at the moment. She sat around the machine with her back straight maintaining her good posture, as usual, it was as if she was the queen sitting on her throne. I leaned down and placed a delicate kiss on her cheek.
"Mom."
"Son, you're here early, or have I really been in here for so long?" She glanced at me over her glasses that were slightly lowered to the tip of her nose.
"I'm not feeling too good so I was about to head home and get some rest before I go back to work tonight."
"You're going back?" She raised her hand to stop me from responding before she chuckled. "I almost forgot how dedicated you are to your work."
"You know me mama, I love what I do." I shrugged my shoulders.
"You could've just called and told me this, you didn't have to come all the way here."
"I wanted to see you." I gave her the sweetest smile I could.
"If only your brother was like you, I swear most of the time I hear from him he's either in trouble or about to start it." I laughed but chose not to comment on it.
"Big man," my father entered with a stentorian greeting. His deep voice forcing me to freeze for a short time before turning to face him. "You look unwell son."
"I'm not, I was just on my way home and decided to stop by."
"Darling, why don't you just stay here instead of going all the way home?" My mother questioned. "There's always room here."
"I'm sure there is but I would rather be in the comfort of my own space, I will see you both soon."
After giving them a hug and a kiss I finally left and went home. The exact moment my head hit the pillow my mind drifted off to Nayeli, I haven't spoken to her in over a week and I don't mind and I'm sure she doesn't either. She doesn't come to my office anymore instead it's some other girl who's name I don't care to remember.
I can admit that I'm attracted to her but I don't care to chase her, I just don't see a reason to. I explained myself and if she doesn't want to believe me there's nothing I can do about it.
I can admit, her actions surprise me. I honestly expected her to be coming back with the hopes of fixing the friendship. I'm so used to being chased that her ignoring my presence seems bizarre but it isn't.
Nayeli Binns
Walking into Alexander's office I smiled at the fact that he was not there, work has been so odd lately since our last meeting. The silence between us is deafening which is why I made sure to carry my earphones to make it less awkward for me. I did everything like I usually would but faster so I could leave quicker, of course, it wasn't fast enough. I tried to ignore Alexander as he strutted in his office with someone following behind him.
I didn't look at him, I didn't want to know if he was looking at me either. Probably not, he doesn't talk to me anymore.
I grabbed the cart and began to push it towards the door trying to save myself from the awkwardness.
"Good night." It didn't come from Alexander, instead, it came from the man. When I looked at him I could feel Alexander's eyes boring holes at the side of my face.
"Goodnight," I answered politely trying to leave the room but he stopped the cart from being pushed any further.
"Anthony Nixon, Mr.Nixon's brother and you are?" I knew he had a brother but he is not as widely known as Alexander is.
"I'm working." I could see the small smirk that formed on Alexander's face.
"I can see that but I meant you're name."
"I know, I just don't feel like telling you. Can you excuse me?"
"I completely understand why you are this way with me." He said completely ignoring my question.
"That's great news now can you please move-"
"You are so breathtakingly beautiful." He stopped me from talking. "I know a lot of men approach you and when they do they don't do so in a very respectful way which is why you immediately put up this wall to protect yourself from the next man and I completely respect that but I just want you to know I have no intentions of doing anything wrong." I can't believe I'm actually listening to him speak, neither does Alex. He looked so surprised.
"So again. I'm Anthony Nixon and you are?" He extended his hand and I shook it slowly.
"Nayeli Binns."
"Oh, you're Nayeli!" His eyes widen before he turned to Alexander. "Alex didn't tell me you were so beautiful."
"Alexander didn't know he was obligated to tell Anthony such things." Alexander quipped, his voice was harsh and I felt attack even though he wasn't even looking at me.
"Well then I would love to have you over for dinner, I can guarantee you a fun night."
"What if I don't want to come to your house?" I started pushing the cart again.
"That can be changed easily." He smiled at me.
I thought about turning him down but I couldn't come up with a reason, I wasn't with anyone else, Alexander definitely doesn't want anything to do with me so he wouldn't care if I said yes right? One way to find out.
"Sure, I'd love to."
