I shuffled across the bed before I stretched my arms from under the warm covers. As soon as my eyes fluttered open a smile appeared on my face. My birthday isn't usually a big deal to me but Alexander is making me feel like it is. For me it's normally just another day but this time I feel like I actually have something to look forward to.
"Happy birthday to you," I look to see Alexander entering with a small cupcake in his hand which held a single candle on top. More importantly Alexander sounded delightful as he sang to me. His voice was so soothing and instantly put me at ease, right away I start to wonder why he never told me about his amazing talent.
"Thank you," I giggled as he held the cupcake in front me allowing his performance to come to an end.
"Make a wish." I closed my eyes and did just that. Wishing for happiness and prosperity for myself, mother and friends around me.
"You have a very beautiful voice," I watched him take a seat on the bed.
"It's not as good as you're making it out to be, it's average."
"That's what you think but that is not the case," he shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't know what to say which really surprised me. "No one has ever told you that before?"
"Well other than my parents, no." I raised my eyebrows in disbelief with my mouth ajar. "That's because I have never sang in front of anyone before."
As soon as he said that the only thing I could say was 'wow'. I didn't know if I should believe him or not, then again why would he lie to me about something like that? To make you feel special, my subconscious responded and I would be lying if I said it wasn't working. With India being 12 hours and thirty minutes ahead of America's time I had already received my birthday wish from mt mother and Stormi. I don't expect anymore, there's no one else to wish me happy birthday.
"I never really wanted to, for some odd reason I get extremely nervous," he started laughing at himself while getting comfortable next to me, I leaned back on the bed head and he followed. "Sometimes my mother would want me to sing at events and I would always always always come up with an excuse," I laughed at him exaggerating the word and he joined me not long after. "I couldn't even sing at Christmas dinners, just imagine me and my skinny little legs shaking all over the place."
You know that moment when you're laughing and you let out your ugly laugh out? Well this was one of those moments and I would've stopped laughing but I couldn't.
"Well I appreciate your little performance even more."
"Anytime birthday girl," he beamed at me. "Now I'll let you freshen up since I kinda barged in."
"It's fine, that was very sweet of you."
"For you and only you." He said jokingly before winking and rising off the bed. "I'll see you in a minute for breakfast Nayeli, happy birthday again."
As soon as my door closed I jumped out of bed landing firmly on my two feet, I went straight into the bathroom to prepare myself for the day ahead. When I applied for the job at his company I didn't expect to even see him much less have this close of a relationship with him. I would be lying if I said I didn't like having him around. With me being in a complete different time zone from my mother
"Well look at you," I said with a perky voice as I examined his outfit. I don't think I've ever seen him dress this comfortable before, he isn't the type to sport a suit to work everyday but I've never seen him in sneakers and a t-shirt before.
"You look amazing yourself."
I gave him a closed-mouthed smile trying my best to hide my blush.
