Alexander Nixon

I trailed closely behind Nayeli as we walked to her mother's grave. It was as if a dark cloud hung lowly over the cemetery, you could feel the energy change as soon as you entered.

I watched as she rest the bouquet of red roses on top the stone head, she then took a seat parallel to it. The last visit to her mother was the morning of our departure for our 'get away.'

"Hey mama, I just got back yesterday, you should've been there it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. It's so peaceful too," she paused for a couple of seconds. "I really wish you could've seen it but you're probably somewhere a million times better huh?"

It didn't take long for her emotions to spill out and tears began pouring from her eyes. I stood still not wanting to interrupt her.

"I miss you, so much. I love you," she continued to sob for a moment and with every second that passed my heart ached, each time a little more than the last.

She stretched her legs and lowered her body to lay on the grass next to her mothers grave, her actions proving how saddened she is by her mother's absence.

"I'm right here my love," I said softly just as I stooped next to her and held one of her hands. It warmed my heart when she smiled and gripped it back.

"I know," the smiled lasted only for a couple seconds before she sat up and leaned into my chest.

"I will always be here for her Sonya, I promise no matter what to always take care of her." I close my eyes after and the sound of Nayeli's sobs filled my ears.

"Thanks for being here today." Nayeli says just as I parked the car in the parking lot of my Company's HQ.

"I told you I'm here for you babe."

"Babe?" She raised her eyebrows with a grin on her face. It was evident that she had been crying due to her red nose and puffy eyes but she still look "I don't think I've ever heard you call me that before."

"Because I prefer to address you by your name, I love your name. I love everything about you." I exited the car and she did as well and met me at the front, we embraced each other in a much needed hug before going inside. The place was neatly designed in christmas decorations spreading the christmas spirit.

"This looks amazing, is this your idea?" Nayeli beamed.

"We do it every year, our way of spreading the christmas spirit to all visitors."

"I think we should get some for our house," she suggested. I look at her while she continued to admire the room completely unaware of my staring.

"I love when you say 'our'." I latched my hand with hers and stepped closer to her.

"Good morning Mr and Mrs.Nixon." An employee called out to us.

"Good morning." I smiled and looked at Nayeli who's face held a confused expression. "It's not their business what's true and what's not." I said in a hushed tone whilst walking towards the elevator.
