Nayeli Binns

"Are you alright?" I asked my mother after helping her in the back of Alexander's car. We're taking her to the hospital because she hasn't been feeling good and is only getting worst. The sun soar in the sky, making the place hot and rainless. The birds flew in the sky, dipping, diving and twirling about.

"I'm fine baby," she smiled before I closed the door getting in the front passenger seat while Alexander sat in the drivers seat. Alexander. He's so sweet and I don't know what I ever did for him to treat me the way he does. Over the pass month since we began this relationship he's been nothing but good to me however, we have yet to be public about it and I love it this way.

"I would love if you could sleep over again," I laughed lightly turning my head to look at him, he was focused on the road. "Or we can sleep at your home, either works fine."

It still surprises me that on some nights he's so willing to leave his opulent house to sleep at mine just to be closer to me. Every since I stayed that night the for the first time he has asked me around five times after that and on some nights when I prefer to be closer to my mother he stays with me. I like that he loves being around me, it keeps me reminded that this is now my reality.

"You can stay at my home tonight."

"You know this wouldn't have to be a decision every day if we lived together," he shocks me by saying and I can't speak because I am now choking on my own air. I have to choose my words carefully, knowing Alexander he talks his way through anything.

"Alexander that's a big step," he doesn't even let me finish talking.

"I know that but there's nothing wrong with it."

"No, we aren't ready."

"What else are we waiting for?" He glances at me.

"Time! To see a person and to live with a person are two different things."

"Admit that you're scared," he wasn't wrong, I am scared but even if I wasn't I would still react the way I am now.

"It's not the only reason Alexander, how about the fact that we have only been together for a month and some days."

"We know it's gonna happen, why not just do it right now?"

"Why are you rushing everything?" I asked getting frustrated with the fact that he's missing the whole point.

"No need to get upset Nayeli, not every disagreement is an argument. Let's talk about this another time."

We were both quiet for the rest of the journey to the hospital, we weren't upset with each other we just never had anything to say. As soon as we pulled up to the hospital we both helped my mother inside, we spoke to a doctor and she was taken into their care. After a few minutes of waiting they decided they were gonna keep her there just so they could take care of her until she's better.

"I'm going to leave for work now," he says quietly. We were now in my mothers hospital room watching her sleep. He ensured that she was given a room as comfortable as it could get.

"I'm sorry for upsetting you, please don't be angry with me," his voice was soft and he was acting different. He wasn't the Alexander I'm used to seeing, his dominance seemed to have faded away in this very moment.

"I was never upset Alexander, you don't need to apologize," I wrapped my arms around him and he did the same to me, my head rested on his chest.

"Alright, I'll have someone deliver food, just call me if you ever need anything."

"Thank you," I raised my head to make eye contact and he immediately placed a tender kiss on my lips. I loved how affectionate he was towards me, I love that he wasn't hiding his feelings from me.

I sat in the seat across from my mother's bed and thought about what it would be like living with Alexander. No doubt would I be comfortable and happy but I'm not sure it's something we're ready for, what happens when we move into together? He probably asks to start a family and the thought alone makes me feel nauseous. Everything is happening so fast.

Mentioning family reminds me that I haven't contacted Anthony as yet. I tried going to his house but he wasn't there, he lived in a small but decent house by himself in a quiet neighborhood. I planned to stop by again, I won't stop until I fix the problem I caused. I'm doing this mainly because Alexander seems to be taking this 'relationship' very serious and the last thing I would want is for two brothers to be feuding over me nor do I need Anthony thinking I owe it to him to not be with his brother.

3 Days later

We were still at the hospital and my mothers health doesn't seem to be improving. She is weaker than before and she does not smile as much as I hope she would . Everyday both Alexander and Stormi stop by to pay her a visit, Alexander with flowers and Stormi with food. By the end of the week her room was a little crowded with with bouquets of flowers.

"Where are you going?" My mother asked weakly. It was evident by the sound of her voice that she was sick.

"I'm heading to the office to speak to Alexander about something important. Stormi will be here to keep you entertained." We both looked over at Stormi who was sleeping in one of the chairs. Her smores could be heard across the small room. I gave my mother a hug before leaving and on my way out I kicked Stormi on the leg indicating she should wake up.

I don't usually lie to my mother especially since she was able to see right through it. However, this is something I needed to do without Alexander trying to stop me and God knows he would be irate if he found out what I was doing. I had the cab drop me off in front of Anthony's house and I was more than happy to see a section of the house lit which means someone could be home. While walking to the front door the wind caressed my cheek, the night was chilly and the stars sparkled brightly in the sky. I knocked on the door and was relieved when Anthony answered, his facial expression made it clear that I was the last person he expected to see.
